Tony G. Anderson


 

   Tony G. Anderson, age 56 of Burkesville passed away June 29, 2022 at Tri Star Centennial Hospital in Nashville. He was born December 29, 1965 in Glasgow to the late Kenneth and Dorothy Shaw Anderson.

    He was a truck driver for several different companies.

    Survivors include his wife Melissa (Missy) Anderson, one son Kenneth Anderson (Amy Weiss) of Glasgow, step sons Carter Burton of Marrowbone and Trevor Burton of Edmonton;  Step daughter Brittany (Billy) Jessie of Columbia; grandchild Hadley Jo Anderson, step grandchildren Parker, Axel and Riley Jessie. He is also survived by one sister Charlotte (Tim) Sparks of Edmonton; two brothers Calvin (Debbie) Anderson and Tommy Anderson of Edmonton and one sister in law Janet Anderson of Dubre.

     In addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by brothers Wesley and Jimmy Anderson and Gary Jefferson.

      Funeral services will be Sunday July 3, 2022 at 2:00 at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with Brother Roger McKinney officiating. Burial to follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday July 2, 2022 from 4:00 till 8:00 pm at the McMurtrey Funeral Home and again Sunday July 3, 2022 from 8:00 am till funeral time of 2:00 pm.

      In lieu of flowers donations are encouraged to help with funeral expenses and can be left at the McMurtrey Funeral Home.

William Royce Smith

 

  William Royce Smith, age 87, of Edmonton passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at his residence. Born June 06, 1935, in Bowling Green, to the late Irene “Perkins” and Ray Smith. He was the owner operator of Metcalfe Motors in Edmonton. He proudly worked as the local Ford dealer for over 35 years. Royce also served as sheriff of Metcalfe County for one term.

   Survivors include his loving wife of 64 and half years, Anita “Rush” Smith of Edmonton; two sons, Scott Smith and wife Melissa of Edmonton and Greg Smith and wife Fran of Burkesville; two sisters, Joan Whitlow of Owensboro and Sondra Jackson and husband Harry of Hodgenville; six grandchildren, Veronica Campbell, Gabriel Smith, Leah Smith, Braxton Smith, Braydon Smith, and Selexa Smith.

   In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Joyce St. Charles; and brother, Kenneth Smith.

  Cremation was chosen by the family with no services to be announced at the present time.

Mary Juanita Dubree

 

  Mary Juanita Dubree, age 96, of Edmonton passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Metcalfe Healthcare. Born June 24, 1925, in Summer Shade, to the late Tommie “Witty” and Arthur Crumpton.

   Survivors include great grandchildren, Brandi Post of Glasgow, Brandon Lenharr of Edmonton, and Anthony Black; niece, Becky Coulter of Summer Shade.

   In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Roosevelt Dubree; sons, Wallace White and William White; Granddaughter, Michelle Post; sister, Emogene Isenberg; and four brothers.

   Funeral services will be Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home. Mark Parke will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday, June 25 from 11 A.M. –service time at 3 P.M

  

 

Terry Lee Upton

 

Terry Lee Upton, age 62, of Edmonton passed away Thursday, June 23, 2022 at his residence. Born May 06, 1960, in Somerset, KY, to the late Jane Ann “Helm” and David Upton.

   Survivors include one son, Jonathan Upton and wife Valorie Nelson of Center, KY; one grandson, Nathan Upton of Center, KY; two sisters Tammy Harris of Russell Springs, KY; Sherry Coffee of Jamestown, KY.

   Graveside services will be Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 10:00A.M. at Missionary Mound Cemetery.

   In lieu of flowers donation may be made to the funeral expenses. These can be made at McMurtrey Funeral Home.

John Victor Kayser

 

 John Victor Kayser, age 75, of Glasgow passed away Friday, June 17, 2022 at his residence. Born June 28, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Rose “Konicki” and Henry Kayser.

   Survivors include his wife Maria Kayser; two daughters, Rebekah Kayser and Rachel Fener;  one grandson Russell Fener; three Brothers Henry Kayser and wife Phyllis, Joseph Kayser, and James Kayser.

  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one sister; Judy Holmes.

  Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 10:00A.M. at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Glasgow.

Nathan Ray Blaydes

 

Nathan Ray Blaydes, age 34, of Edmonton passed away Monday, June 13, 2022 at the Tipton Baptist Hospital in Covington, TN. Born October 16, 1987 in Glasgow, to Helen “Milton” and J.L. Blaydes.

   Survivors include one daughter Mary Jane Blaydes of Glasgow; one son, Odin Ray Blaydes of Glasgow; two sisters, Terri Carroll and Christina Milton both of Edmonton; one brother, Matthew Blaydes of Edmonton, nieces and nephews, Taylor Carroll, Briana Dicks, Hannah Dicks, Connor Burton, and Blake Dicks.

 He is preceded in death by one sister, Crystal Lynn Blaydes; and one brother, John Blaydes.

   Funeral services will be Sunday, June 19, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home with Larry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, June 18, 2022, 4:00-8:00 PM and on Sunday, June 19 after 8:00 A.M. until time of services at 1:00.

Zella Louise " Muse" Sickman


 

   Zella Louise “Muse” Sickman, age 79, of Glasgow passed away Monday, June 13, 2022 at the Signature Healthcare of Glasgow. Born January 01, 1943 in Tompkinsville, she was a daughter of the late Evie “Pruitt” and Luther “Booster” Muse.

   Survivors include three daughters, Judy L. Hagan of Tompkinsville, Sharon K. Muse of Glasgow, Patricia Ann Turner and wife Charity Copas of Tompkinsville; sister, Carolyon Sue Ford of Glasgow; brothers, Barry Muse and wife Janet of Sparta, TN, Roy Muse of Glasgow, Donald Lee Muse and wife Betty of Gamaliel; grandchildren Casey Lee Turner, Stacey Marie Turner, Cody Trenton Turner, Kaden Ray Muse, and Brian Lee Walker.

   In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by the father of her children Dewey Ray Gass; daughter, Angela Gass, son, Ricky Muse, sister, Mildred Rouse; brothers, Wayne Thomas Muse, Charles Muse, Darrell Muse and Earl Muse

   Funeral services will be Thursday, June 16 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home with Hershel Cyphers officiating. Burial will follow in the Wilson Basil Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 15, 2022, 4:00-8:00 PM and on Thursday, June 16 after 8:00 A.M. until time of services at 1:00.

Donnie "Shaw" Lester


 

   Donnie “Shaw” Lester, age 83, of Edmonton passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022 at the Metcalfe Healthcare Center. Born December 24, 1938 in Metcalfe County, she was a daughter of the late Susan “Syra” and Glen Shaw.

   She worked at Mallory’s as machine operator and was of the Methodist faith.

   Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Allbright and husband Timmy of Edmonton; two grandchildren, Brandon McCoy of Glasgow and Nick Anderson of Edmonton; one great granddaughter, Hallie McCoy

   In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Wayne “Nig” Lester; daughter, Connie Lester; and several brothers and sisters.

   Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home with Carl Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 14, 2022, 4:00-8:00 PM and on Wednesday, June 15 after 8:00 A.M. until time of services at 1:00.

    In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Summer Shade Volunteer Fire Department.

Howard Jewell Birge

 

Howard Jewell Birge, age 81, of Hestand, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2022 at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville. He was born May 9, 1941 in the Sulphur Lick community; a son of the late Elbert Tom and Clara “Vance” Birge.

   He was retired from the Barren County School System; having served as the janitor for the Austin Tracy Grade School for years.

   Howard is survived by his wife Evie Jewell “McClard” Birge of Tompkinsville; one son, Randy Birge and wife Amanda of Tompkinsville; two granddaughters, Makayla Birge of Adolphus, KY and Aleda Smith and husband Garrett of Tompkinsville; and mother of his son, Margie Wood of Tompkinsville

   Preceding him in death besides her parents are his sisters, Irma Copas, Lois England, Mamie McIntyre; and brothers, Ewell, Horace, Mervin, Lee and Edgar Birge.

  Graveside funeral services will be Monday, June 13, 2022, 10:00 A.M. at the White Cemetery in Sulphur Lick. Burial will follow the service. Visitation will be Sunday, June 12, 2022, from 4-8 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home.

   Memorials may be made to the White Cemetery.

Sharon (Fuzzy) McMurtrey


 

Sharon [Fuzzy] Kaye Harper McMurtrey, age 59, of Summer Shade passed away  Thursday, June 2, 2022 in Nashville TN.

   Born September 1, 1962 in Glasgow, KY, she was a daughter of the late Phillip and Joyce Ann Blankenship Harper. She was the widow of Gary McMurtrey.

   Sharon worked at Monroe County Medical Center and was a member of the Willow Shade Church of Christ. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many. She was loved by all who knew her

   Survivors include one daughter, Emily (Wesley) Lewis, Portland, TN; two sons, Russ (Erika) McMurtrey, Nolensville, TN and Ty (Emma) McMurtrey, Summer Shade; five grandchildren, Owen, Easton, Emmitt, and Henry Clay McMurtrey and Blakely Lewis. two sisters, Janetta (Dickie) Kirk, Tompkinsville and Karen [Pedie] (Jimmy)  Moore, Marrowbone; three brothers, Junior (Teressa) Harper, Summer Shade, Ashley, (Sarah) Harper, Glasgow and Wesley (Angie) Harper; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

   Funeral services will be Sunday, June 5, 2021, 2:00 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home with Brother Gary Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, June 4, 2022, 2:00-8:00 P.M. and on Sunday, June 5 after 8:00 A.M. until time of services at 2:00 P.M.

   In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Joyce Carol Vibbert Harper



 

   Joyce Carol Vibbert Harper passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at the Monroe County Medical Center. Born January 31, 1943 in Willow Shade, KY she was a daughter of the late Vince and Pearl Dubree Vibbert.

   She was a homemaker and was of the Church of Christ faith.

   Survivors, include one daughter, Sheila (Ed) Smith, Summer Shade; seven grandchildren, Suelena Smith, Michela (Joshua) Page, Sierra (Tony Tinsley) Harper, Cassie Reece, Joseph Meers, R D Harper and Brittany Harper; three special grandchildren, Ryan (Amanda) Purcell, Dillon Maynard and Latsha Jewell; 12 great grandchildren, Preston, Penelope and Paxton Page, Tymber  Smith, Macie Strode, Jayden and Issac Smith, Stetson Reece, Kade Swift, Isabel Onate, Chevy and Aubrey Purcell; and several nieces and nephews.

   Preceding her in death, besides her parents were her husband, Darrell Harper; one son, Stevie Harper and two brothers Minvel and Buddy Vibbert.

   Funeral services will be Saturday, June 4, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home with Jackson Page officiating. Burial will follow in the Skaggs Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, June 3, 2022, 3:00-8:00 PM and on Saturday, June 4 after 8:00 A.M. until time of services at 11:00.
