Charles Lee “Butch” Johnson, 79, of Glasgow, KY died April 14, 2024,
at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. Born January 29, 1945, in Plainview, TX the
son of the late Robert and Elsie Mae Ferris Johnson.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years Sherry Free Johnson, 2
daughters Dena Hagan (Chris) and Stacy Johnson both of Glasgow: 5 grandchildren
Michelle Garmon, Paul Bailey, Seth Hagan, Tyler Hagan and Mason Hagan; 1
brother Richard Dale Johnson of Baker City OR and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by a
daughter Debra Outler and a brother Larry Johnson.
The family of Mr. Johnson chose cremation with a private family memorial
service to be held later. McMurtrey
Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mark Sterling McCoy, age, 60 of Indianapolis, IN died Tuesday, April9, 2024 at his residence. Born in Indianapolis, IN the son of the late Stanley Smith and Ina Ann Ping McCoy.
He was a mechanic for Valley Tire Company, he
was very mechanically inclined, loved to travel, loved old cars and trucks and
could unlock any car in seconds.
Survivors include his daughter Ashley Edwards
(Robert) of Indianapolis: his son Christopher McCoy of Indianapolis: 3
grandchildren Tanner, Trenton and Trey Edwards: 2 brothers Steve McCoy (Annie
Wilson0 of Indianapolis, Billy McCoy (Marci) of Indianapolis 1 sister Maesha Martin (Roger): along with
several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Tuesday. April16, 2024 at the McMurtrey Funeral with burial in the Union # 2 Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 10am until time for the service at 2PM at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy can be made in the form of contributions to Union # 2 Cemetery and can be left at the funeral home.
Charles Aaron Pickett, 77, of Edmonton, KY passed away Thursday, April 11, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Randolph, KY on November 21, 1946, to the late William and Dillie Savage Pickett.
He was a member of the Cane Valley Baptist Church and enjoyed driving and building race cars, horses, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include two sons Russell Aaron Pickett and James Lytle; three daughters, Delena Buenting, Colleen Ehmen and Loraine Lesa From; twenty-two grandchildren, 36 great grand-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, six brothers and a grandson Austin Pickett.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Monday, April 15, 2024, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Randolph Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday after 10:00am at McMurtrey Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the
funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
Joseph William (Joe) Hurt, age 90 of Center,
Ky. (Formerly of Summer Shade) passed away April 9, 2024, at his residence. He
was born in Beaumont, Ky on December 8, 1933, to the late Rollin Hurt and Mary
Dell Wells Hurt Carey.
Joe was a farmer, school bus driver for 40 years
for Metcalfe County School Board and a deputy sheriff of Metcalfe County for
four years. He loved hunting, golfing, trail riding and playing with his
grandkids. He was saved in September 1969 at his mother’s house.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Martha
Myatt Hurt, one daughter Shauna Jo (Marty) Pennington of Center, one son Jason
William (Julie) Hurt of Bowling Green.
He is also survived by five grandchildren
Austin (Kennedy) Pennington, Nick (Hannah) Pennington, Addison Hurt, Elaney
Hurt and Alex Pennington, one Great grandchild James Pennington. He is also
survived by one sister Marianna Irving
In addition to his parents, he was preceeded
in death by a daughter Ashley Hurt and brother Max Martin.
Funeral services will be Friday – April 12,
2024- 1:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with Brother Sammy Norris
officiating and burial to follow in the Gee Harvey Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday – April 11, 2024,

Teddy Lee Frazier, age 69 of Tompkinsville, Ky.
passed away April 6, 2024, at Indian Creek Health Care in Indiana. He was born
in Tompkinsville, Ky. on February 7, 1955, to the late Ves and Nettie
Pennington Frazier. He worked for the Monroe County Board of Education for 33
years and loved fishing and spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by two daughters Lynn (Shannon Gass)
Allen of Moss, and Christy (Kevin) Frazier Webb of Tompkinsville; one stepson
Mathew (Heather) Bartley of Tompkinsville; grandchildren Lori (Tyler Poland)
Hood, Britney Allen, Heather Allen, Garrett Smith, Kadden Smith, Adalyn Webb,
Emree Webb and step grandchildren Nolan Barbee and Rosie Bartley and one great
grandchild Ryder Poland.
He is also survived by one sister Mary Kingrey
and one brother Harold Frazier.
Other than his parents he was preceded in
death by his daughter Melinda Frazier wife Katrina Arnett Frazier, the mother
of his daughters Catherine White Frazier, sisters Margie Rich, Carolyn Lambert,
Ruth Davis and Carolene Frazier and brothers Joe and Shorty Frazier.

Wendall “Jay” Vibbert age 69, of Burkesville,
KY died Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Medical Center.@ Bowling Green. Born in Monroe County, he was the son of the
late Joe Lewis and Mary Mabeleline Shaw Vibbert. Mr. Vibbert was a self-employed logger for
many years.
He is survived by one son Ezra Vibbert (Maggie)
of Glasgow: one daughter Melody Vibbert of Celina, TN; one brother Ray Vibbert
of Albany Half-Brother Roy Farlee of Marrowbone, KY one sister Sue Vibbert of Indiana a long-time close fiend Joe
Pennington of Tompkinsville, KY: along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by three brothers Lynn and Marshall “Dump” Vibbert.
The family of Mr. Vibbert honored his wishes
as cremation was chosen with a private memorial service held at a later
date. McMurtrey Funeral Home assisted the family with
arrangements.
Winford Poynter, age 73 of the Lick Branch
community of Glasgow, Ky. passed away March 29. 2024 at the Shanti Niketan
Hospice Home in Glasgow. He was born in Knob Lick, Ky. on December 23, 1950, to
the late Arthur Cecil and Clemteen England Poynter. He was a farmer and worked
for McMurtrey Planning Mill and Roger Well, Jr. He was of the Baptist faith and
was a member of the Glasgow Faith Church in Glasgow.
He is survived by his wife Charlene Wells
Poynter; one daughter Letha (Steven) Bray of Glasgow, one son Kelly (Angela) Poynter of Glasgow and one stepson Cody Spillman of Glasgow. He is
also survived by grandchildren Brianna Miller, Charlie Miller, Paige (Gavin)
Fields, Taylor Poynter, Haley Poynter, Austin Poynter, Madelyn Kelleher, Marley
Kelleher, Silas Bray, and Ila Bray, great grandchildren Emryn Gentry, Bailyn
Miller, Colby Poynter, and David Cooper Fields.
He is
also survived by one sister Linda (Donald) Appleby and brothers Von Poynter, of
Columbus, In. Roger (Judy) Poynter, Terry (Linda) Poynter, Ronnie (Pricilla)
Poynter all of Glasgow and Donnie (Donna) of Smiths Grove.
Also
surviving is son in law Shannon Berryman, mother of his children Jenny Lou
Elmore and several nieces and nephews.

death by his daughter Sonya Gail Berryman, sister Patricia Poynter and brothers

Kenneth Calvin Scott, born July 12th 1953 of Metcalfe County Ky, passed away March 7th 2024 in Glasgow Ky, at the age of 70.
He was a Christian in faith and a proud member of the NRA and Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents Delmer Lewis Scott, and Ruby Ballard Scott. Also brothers Stanley Lewis Scott, and Stevie Lee Scott. One sister Ola Mae Robertson, and a special friend Lorena Clark.
He is survived by four sons, Kendrick Chad Scott of Bowling Green (Wendi), Justin R. Scott of Glasgow (Amy), Jon Eric Scott of Glasgow (Elisabeth), and Cory Lee Scott of Little Barren (Marisa). Also surviving is one sister Elizabeth Ann Bowles of Hiseville, as well as 14 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. Kenny is also survived by the mother of his children, Evelyn Thompson Scott.
Kenny was known as Wild Man or Hawgdaddy to many. He loved life and life loved him back. He is best known for his BBQ restaurant ‘Pride of The
South’, which made it’s beginning in Sulphur Well Ky, including other locations. Everyone knows and loves the family’s smoked shredded pork and vinegar sauce.
Ken was also an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed both fishing and hunting wild game from Kentucky to Alaska, to Canada. He also spent time living and relaxing in Hawaii. Kenny had a strong relationship with nature and the waters around him.
A memorial visitation will be held at McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade Ky. Wednesday, March 13th from 11:00am-3:00pm central time. His body was cremated, and the family will hold a graveside burial in Sulphur Well Ky immediately following. All are invited to attend.
Nancy Lynn Lemons, age 61 of Glasgow passed away February 27, 2024, at the TJ Samson Hospital. She was born September 10, 1962, to the late Melvin Lemons and Violet Nichols Lemons who survives. She worked in housekeeping at TJ Samson Hospital and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Other
than her mother she is survived by two sisters Anna Lemons of Cave City and
Debbie Evans of Indiana: one brother Melvin C. Lemons of Indiana and several
nieces and nephews.
Other than her father she was preceeded in
death by three nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday February 29,
2024, at 1:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with Brother John Madrigal
officiating with burial to follow in the Beaumont Cemetery. Visitation will be
on Thursday from 11:00 A.M. till service time of 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Walter Wesley Jones, age 77 passed away at his residence in
Summer Shade, Ky. on February 23, 2024. Born in Alabama, May 30, 1946, he was
the son of the late Ross C. and Louise Gore Jones. He was married for 55 years
to the late Phyllis Jones. Walter was a Vietnam Veteran. He ran Leaning Pine
Heating and Cooling Business and was a faithful member of Mill Creek Baptist
Church.
Walter Jones is survived by his daughter, Tina (Titus) Awokuse,
Michigan; son David (Theresa) Jones, Louisville; brother; Ross C. Jones Jr,
sister-in-law, Paula (Larry) Blakeman, Campbellsville; seven grandchildren
Daniel, Joshua and Sarah Awokuse and Zachary (Haley), Bradley, Valerie and
Cameron Jones; one great-grandson Kashton Jones.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, wife, and son Samuel

Hilda Suzanne Rutledge, 76, of Glasgow, KY passed
away Thursday, February 22, 2024, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Born in Nobob Community of Barren County she
was the daughter of the late Jacob Frank and Margaret Jean Norris Rich.
Mrs. Rutledge was a homemaker that adored her
husband of 60yrs. Lyndal Rutledge of Glasow, KY: her two sons Andrew Rutledge
of Glasgow and Jeff Rutledge wife Julie of Lexington, KY; two grandchildren
Jacob and Jessalyn Rutledge,
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by a brother Michael Rich.
Funeral service for Mrs. Rutledge will be held
11:00am Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer
Shade with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00am

William Gene Dozard, age 87 of Summer Shade passed away February
18, 2024, at the T.J. Samson Hospital. He was born February 17, 1937, to the
late Edward James and Florence May Florea Dozard. He was a retired Appliance repair technician
and was a member of the Barren County Cattleman’s Association and the United
States Army.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years Betty Dozard, four
children, 10 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great great
grandchildren.
No services are scheduled at this time as cremation was chosen.
William Odell Deckard, age 91 of Glasgow
passed away February 12, 2024, at Glenview Health Care in Glasgow. He was born
November 16, 1932, to the late William and Leona Knight Deckard. He was a
mechanic and enjoyed fishing, hunting and his friends. He was of the Church of
Christ faith.
He is survived by two sons Danny Lee Deckard
and Doug (Deborah) Lawson of Florida three daughters Audrey (Tim) Pace of Glasgow,
Margie (Charley) Bunch of Glasgow and Carolyn McGlynn of Bowling Green: nine
grandchildren and several great grandchildren as well as several cousins. Other
than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jean Deckard, one son
Richard Deckard, grandson Michael Stilts, sister Goldie and brother Herman.
Funeral services will be Thursday February 15,
2024, at 1:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial to follow in the
Morton Pritchard Cemetery. Visitation will begin Thursday February 15, 2024 after
10:00 A.M. at the Funeral home until funeral time of 1:00.
William Chad Brown, age 43 of Glasgow (formerly
of Tompkinsville) passed away February 6, 2024, at the T.J. Samson Hospital in
Glasgow. He was born December 15, 1980, to the late William Randall Brown and
Tammie Hestand Brown who survives. He was loved by everyone that met him.
Other than his mother, he is survived by two
sisters Brookie Walden (Chad) of Tompkinsville and Kara Dickerson of Glasgow;
Grandfather Rayburn Hestand; grandmother Barbara Brown; niece Kennedy Walden;
nephew Jeron Colello; uncles Lewis (Stephanie) Hestand, Aaron (Tammy) Brown,
Barry Brown and Anthony Brown; aunts Bonnie Hestand, Lorrie (Michael) Clarkson and
Debbie Vrocher. He is also survived by several cousins and friends.
Other than his father, he was preceded in
death by grandmother Loraine Hestand grandfather Wayne Brown and Uncle Eddie
Brown.

Michael J. Key, 65. Of Summer Shade, KY. passed away Wednesday,
January 31, 2024, at his residence. Born
on December 23, 1958, in Indiana to the late Jessie Key and Janet Sue Froedge
Key of Summer Shade who survives.
Michael retired from maintenance with the Glasgow Water
Company, he was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather, he loved
supporting his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their sporting activities
and was an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan.
In addition to his mother survivors include 2 daughters, Amanda
Worley (Chris) of Center, KY, Emily Key of Glasgow: 4 grandchildren, Dillon
Worley (Lindsey), Lane Hodges, Daisy Worley, Emmalin Roderick: 3
great-grandchildren Emery Worley, Grayson Worley and Pa’s Boy Granger
Worley: 3 sisters Pauletta Deckard (Jimmy) of Glasgow and Becky (Jerry) Newton of Summer Shade, KY, Susan Wallis (late Wes) of Iowa, several nieces and
nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a
brother Donald Joe Key.
Funeral service will be held 2:00pm Saturday, February 3, 2024,
at the McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade with burial in the Summer Shade
Cemetery. Visitation will be after
10:00am Saturday until time for the service.
William Dwight Norris, age 66 of Summer Shade
passed away January 23, 2024, at the Monroe County Medical Center. He was born
May 23, 1957, to the late William Alton and Marilyn Estes Norris. Dwight worked
at Sumitomo Wiring and was a lifetime farmer. Dwight was baptized at the Center
Point Church of the Nazarene where he attended.
He is survived by his wife Martha Cummins
Norris, one daughter Amanda Grace (Matthew) VanCamp of Summer Shade and one son
Billy Lee (fiancé Brandie Gipson) Norris of Horse Cave; three grandchildren,
Gracie Lynn (Josh) Fritz, Conner and Carson VanCamp all of Summer Shade and one
special uncle Phillip (Lois) Norris of Summer Shade.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 26, 2024,
at 12:00 noon at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial to follow in the
Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Randolph. Visitation will be Thursday, January 25, 2024,
at the McMurtrey Funeral Home from 2:00 till 8:00 P.M. and again on Friday from
8:00 A.M. till service time of 12:00 Noon.

Lois Evelyn Gibson Smith, 81 of Edmonton passed away Friday, January 19, 2024, at TJ Samson Hospital in Glasgow. She was born April 5, 1942, to the late William Ellis and Margaret Wells Gibson. She loved writing in her journal, sending letters to her family and friends, and taking care of her grandchildren. Lois loved her family and anyone she came in contact with.
She is survived by her four children Randy (Sherry) Smith of Edmonton, Sandy Barnett of Edmonton, Terry (Marsha) Smith of Hardyville and Danny (Jennifer) Smith of Edmonton. Nineteen grandchildren, twenty- seven great grandchildren and two great -great grandchildren. Three sisters Helen (Ronald) Davis, Connie Bennett, and Sue Smith. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She is also preceded in death by her husband Bobby Smith, two brothers Wayne Gibson, William Larry Gibson, and sister Joyce Burgess.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2024,11:00 AM at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in White Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, January 22, 2024, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. here at the funeral home and after 8:00 AM Tuesday until time of the service.
