Jeffrey Mark Harris

Jeffrey Mark Harris, 62, of Glasgow, Kentucky passed away at his home Tuesday, January 9, 2024.  Jeff was born June 6, 1961 in Glasgow to Jack Albert and Exie Mae Harris.

Jeff was a 1979 graduate of Tompkinsville High School, where he proudly played football and played tuba in the band.  As a teenager, Jeff professed his salvation and was of the Missionary Baptist faith. In 2005 Jeff was baptized with both of his daughters. After graduating high school, he worked at LPH Manufacturing with his dad, then worked for several years at Belden Industries, where he met and pursued his future wife Bobbi. Jeff and Bobbi wed on March 12, 1988 and later that year welcomed their first daughter, Kelli. In 1989, he pursued his lifelong dream of being a full time farmer, milking cows, raising beef cattle, and raising crops. With a growing farm, they decided to add another farmhand in 1992, their youngest daughter, Kara.

Jeff was a lifelong outdoorsman, with an avid love of hunting and fishing, trapping, and raising chickens. He loved bringing in new animals for his daughters, and more recently, granddaughters to enjoy. Jeff enjoyed listening to country music, typically singing if Willie, Waylon, Hank, or George came on the radio. He attended many Friday/Saturday night auctions and played many Pitch tournaments; he was the sitting treasurer at Nobob Sportsmans’ Club. He enjoyed playing pranks on friends, telling a good story, and laughing whenever there was an opportunity. Despite Jeff's recent health challenges slowing him down, he expanded his farm operations. He ventured into raising tobacco and beef cattle, to, as he put it “see how far he could get”, proving to himself that a poor boy from Monroe County could succeed.  He did well.

Left here on Earth to mourn his loss are his backbone and wife of 35 years, Bobbi Harris; the sources of both his greatest pride and worries, his two daughters Kelli (and husband Joey) Norman and Kara Harris, both of Glasgow; his “little buddies”, granddaughters Harper Grace and Ava Mae Dickson, who gave him his favorite title of Papa; his cherished sister Sandra Emberton (and husband Paul) of Lucas; his mother-in-law May Crowe of Mount Hermon; two sisters-in-law Anne Ford and Renea Gearlds both of Mount Hermon; several nieces and nephews; and neighbors and friends.

Preceding Jeff in death are his beloved parents Jack and Exie Mae Harris, father-in-law Richard Crowe, several good friends, and his favorite coonhounds Dan and Ann.

Visitation will be at McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade beginning on Friday, January 12 from 2 - 8 PM and continuing on Saturday morning at 9:00 AM until12:30 PM. Funeral services will begin at 1 PM on Saturday, January 13 at White Cemetery Chapel with burial to follow at the cemetery.
