John Larry DeVore

 

John Larry DeVore, age 77, of Edmonton, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022 at his home. Born April 14, 1945, in Glasgow, KY he was a son of the late John I and Maple Lougene Pedigo Devore. He was the husband of Mary Helen Butts DeVore, who survives.  They were married 44 years.

   He worked as a farmer, of the Church of Christ faith and a proud Vietnam Marine Veteran.

    Survivors include one daughter, Clarissa Jane (Raymond Thomas) Bryant, Edmonton; one son John Parke (Mary Catherine) DeVore, Indianapolis, IN; two sisters, Sandra Thompson, Glasgow and Teena (Ronald) Taulbee of Winchester,Ky.; one brother, Wally (Norma) DeVore, Glasgow;  five grandchildren, Chloe Coffman-Keister, Cassandra DeVore, Hyacinth Bryant, Ashtin Bryant and Jonathan Coffman; and one brother in law, Eddie Gassaway.

  Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Joan DeVore Gassaway and one brother in law, Junior Thompson.

   Funeral services will be Monday, October 3, 2022 at1:00 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home, Summer Shade, with Gary Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Metcalfe County. Visitation will be Sunday, October 2, 2022, 2:00-8:00 P.M. and on Monday, October 3, 8:00 A.M. until time of services at 1:00.

   In lieu of flowers memorials may be to the DAV.

Anthony Wayne "Tony" Smith


 

   Anthony Wayne “Tony” Smith, age 68, of Beaumont, KY passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at his residence. He was born on February 08, 1954 in Beaumont, KY to the late Flo Martin Smith and William “Bill” Smith. Tony spent the majority of his life dairy, tobacco, and cattle farming and being a self employed truck driver.

  He is survived by one daughter, Halee Smith of Bowling Green; one son, Johnathon Carter (Amy Miller) of Beaumont; one sister, Jean Franks of Texas; and two grandchildren, Waylon Miller and Case Carter.

   In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Medford and Larry Smith; and two sisters, Carol Smith and Diane Wood.

  Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 29 at 1:00 PM from the McMurtrey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Beaumont Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 28 from 4 PM until 8 PM and will continue on Thursday, September 29 from 8 AM until service time at 1 PM.

Sharon Kay Carey Mutter


 


 

  Sharon Kay Carey Mutter, age 78, died Saturday September 24, 2022 at her home in Glasgow, KY. Born on March 01, 1944 in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Birdie Cobb Carey and Hugh Carey.

  Sharon was a graduate of the Temple Hill High School, class of 1962. She was of the Methodist faith, and a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Glasgow. After forty plus years of service with NHC Healthcare as the director of medical records; Sharon retired in 2014. She was fondly known to many as Sally, and she enjoyed spending time with her loving family, friends, and many co-workers from NHC, but most of all she  loved her family.

  She is survived by one daughter; Stacy Mutter Wininger and husband Brandon of Glasgow; one son, Casey Mutter of Glasgow; two grandchildren, Sydney Wininger Hunter and husband Kyle, and Ellis Wininger all of Louisville, KY; one great-grandson, Hugh Robert Hunter of Louisville, three special cousins/sisters, Rebecca Foster, Emogene Stephens, and Donnie Wyatt, whom she did everything with her entire life; two nieces Alice of Florida and Debbie of Indiana; four nephews, Matthew Carey of Wisconsin, Martin Carey of Nebraska, Harrell Cross of Glasgow, and Lynn Cross of Pike County, KY; one stepsister, Marianna Irving of Glasgow, one step brother, Joe Hurt of Summer Shade, as well as many cousins, great nieces and great nephews.

  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant daughter; paternal and fraternal grandparents Lillie Lola Hume Cary and Ellis Marshall Cary and Clemie Cobb ; one sister Georgia Cary Cross; two brothers, Junior Carey and Herbert Carey; step mother, Mary Dell Martin Carey, and one step brother, Max Martin.

  Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 1 PM from the chapel of McMurtrey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 27 from 11 AM until service time at 1 PM.

  Memorial contributions may be made in Sharon’s memory to B.R.A.W.A or Faith United Methodist Church.

James Deion Pitcock



James Deion Pitcock, age 76, of Dubre passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022 at his residence.

   Born December 11, 1945 in Burkesville, he was a son of the late Reeta “Anderson” Pitcock and James Haskel Pitcock, and was the husband of the late Barbara Kay Pitcock.

   Survivors include two sons, Rocky Lane Pitcock of Marrowbone and Joe David Pitcock of Dubre;  two grandchildren, Richard Lane Pitcock and Allie Jo Pitcock; three brothers, Stevie (Mouse) Pitcock of Marrowbone, Wendell Pitcock of Burkesville, and Ricky Lauderdale of Burkesville.

   Preceding him in death besides his parents and his wife Barbara, are his two brothers Jeffery Dale and Marty Lee Pitcock.

 Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 28 at 1: 00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 27 from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade and will continue on Wednesday, 27 from 8:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.

Evie Jewell "McClard" Birge


 

 

 

 Evie Jewell “McClard” Birge, age 82, of Tompkinsville, KY passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at the Monroe County Medical Center.

   Born December 29, 1939 in Etoile, she was a daughter of the late George and Vivian “Harrison” McClard, and was the wife of the late Howard Birge.

   She was retired from the Barren County School District as janitor at the Austin Tracy School and of the Baptist faith.

   Survivors include one son, Randy Birge and wife Amanda of Hestand; one sister, Nell Smith and husband Carroll of Dry Fork; two grandchildren, Aleda Birge Smith and husband Garrett of Tompkinsville, and Makayla Birge of Hestand; several nieces and nephews also survive.

   Preceding her in death besides her parents and her husband Howard, are her four brothers Leonard, Bernard, Carlos, and Dan McClard; two sisters, Margaret Hale, and Betty Shirley.

 Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, September 23 at 10: 00 A.M. at the White Cemetery in Sulphur Lick. Brother Wayne Mesker will officiate.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 22 from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade.

 In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the White Cemetery.

Danny Wayne Smith

  

 

   Danny Wayne Smith, age 69, of Tompkinsville, KY passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022 at his home.

   Born December 19, 1952 in Tompkinsville, he was a son of the late Paul and Pearl Jackson Smith. He was the husband of Doris Turner Smith, who survives.

   He worked as a siding contractor and was of the Baptist faith. He was a Army veteran.

   Survivors other than his wife, include three daughters, Melissa (Jesse) Emberton, Hestand, Maria (Steven) Morgan, Tompkinsville and Danielle (Bryan) Comer, Tompkinsville; two sisters, Connie (Hubert) Coffelt, Tompkinsville and Norma Freed; two brothers. Randall (Wanda) Smith, Glasgow and Robert (Neva) Smith, Tompkinsville;  seven grandchildren, Chelsea (Dylan) Wood, Chantz (Maddie) Spears, Amber ( Cole)  Crowe, Ashley Morgan, Lily Butler, Laylen and Lently Comer; three great grand children, Cohen Wood, Lakely  Spears and Kagan Crowe; and his mother in law, Anna Dean Turner.

   Preceding him in death besides his parents, include his step father, Prent Anderson; one brother, Willis Smith, and two sisters, Betty Allen and Vicki Smith.

   No services will be held at this time as cremation was chosen.

 Memorials are encouraged to St. Jude or the American Cancer Society and can be sent to the funeral home for forwarding.

Ina Ann (Ping) McCoy


 

   Ina Ann McCoy, age 85, of Indianapolis formerly of Somerset, KY, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022.

   Ina was born in Somerset on June 30, 1936 to the late Edgar and Nellie (Rogers) Ping. Ina was dedicated her life to being a homemaker. She was energetic and outgoing Ina was an open hearted person whom would give you the shirt off your back if you needed it. She cared more about others than herself, and she was beloved by her community. Her weak spot was tomatoes and she never let one pass her by.

  Ina is survived by her children Marsha ( Roger) Martin, Mark McCoy, Bill( Marci) McCoy, Steve (Annie Wilson) McCoy and Victor McCoy; her brother James (Janie) Ping ;7 grandchildren, several great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death siblings, Pearly, Melvin, and Harlan.

  Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 15 at 1 P.M. from the McMurtrey Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Thursday September 15, from 10 A.M. until service time at 1 P.M. Burial will follow in the Union #2 Cemetery.

Rachel Lorene Page Ferguson


 

 

 

   Rachel Lorene Page Ferguson, age 67, of Tompkinsville passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022 at her home. Born May 28, 1955 in Tompkinsville she was the daughter of the late Layton and Hazel Ballard Page. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Alton Ferguson.

   She worked as a sewing machine operator and in the wood processing industry. She was of the Church of Christ faith.

   Survivors other than her husband include two daughters, Jamie Ferguson, Tompkinsville and Jennifer Ferguson, Louisville;  three sisters, Connie (Marty) Huffman, Glasgow, Debbie Patterson, and Sandra (Eddie) Smith both of Tompkinsville; two brothers, James Page, Cave City and Wendell Page, Tompkinsville; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death besides her parents, by her grandparents, Richard and Lizzie Ballard and Elvin and Docia Page; her father and mother-n-law Otis and Eva Ferguson; three brothers, Darrel, Danny, and Ronnie Page; and two sisters, Patricia Schreckenghkost and Ruth Vibbert; and two nieces, Michelle Williams and Angela Summers.

      Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 13, 2022, 11:00 A.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home with Jason and Jackson Page officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Monroe County. Visitation will be Monday, September 12, 2022, 3:00-8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday, September13, 2022  after 8:00 A.M. until time of services at 11:00.

   In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Margaret Deckard McGuire


 

   Margaret Deckard McGuire, age 89, of Beaumont, KY passed away Friday, September 9, 2022. Born February 26, 1933 in Glasgow, KY she was a daughter of the late Alvie and Katie Harper Deckard. She was the wife of Mike Reid McGuire, who survives. They were married 59 years.

   She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

   Survivors include one daughter, Tammy Vibbert and husband Kenneth of Summer Shade; one son Jerry Newton and wife Becky of Summer Shade; seven grandchildren Kristy Vibbert, Kelly Vibbert and wife Samantha, Tyler Vibbert and FiancĂ© Montana Trobaugh, Charles Newton and wife Amanda, Tonya Shaw and husband Chris, and Derrick Newton.

  Great Grandchildren- Mason Ferguson, Bailey Vibbert, Payslee Vibbert, Kylee Vibbert, Kessler Vibbert, Jase Newton, Drake Shaw, Serenity Shaw, Weston Vibbert, and Gracelynn Vibbert.

  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Kay Newton, two great-grandchildren, Shaylee Vibbert and Charity Newton.

   Funeral services will be Wednesday,  September 14, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Lewis Blythe officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday -  September13, 2022, 3:00-8:00 P.M and on Wednesday, after 8:00 A.M. until time of services at 1:00.

Mary Ann “Hume” Seals

 

    Mary Ann “Hume” Seals, age 62, of Tompkinsville passed away September 05, 2022 at the TJ Samson Community Hospital.

    Born February 28, 1960 in Tompkinsville, she was a daughter of the late James Eddie and Haley Jane “Ford” Hume.

    Survivors include her loving husband of 12 years, James Seals of Red Boiling Springs, TN; two daughters, April Smith and husband Charles of Tompkinsville and Taylor Nicole Seals of Lafayette, TN.; one son, Philip Walker and wife Alison of Glasgow;  two sisters, Mossie Emberton of Tompkinsville, and Geraldine Connors of Benton, KY; one brother, Jerry Hume of Tompkinsville;  five grandchildren, Madison Walker, Mason, Ethan, and Austin Smith, and Aiden Seals.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by one brother, Eddie Hume; and three sisters, Margie Young, Corrine Ford, Geneva Copas.

   Cremation was chosen by the family with no memorial services to be announced at the present time. For those wishing to, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
