RACHEL CAROL HUFF BALLARD


   Rachel Carol Huff Ballard, age 69, died Thursday, December 25, 2014, at Metcalfe Health Care.
   She was born March18, 1945, in Willow Shade and was  the daughter of the late Taylor Huff and Minnie Girtle Brown.
   She was a homemaker and of the Church of Christ faith.
   Survivors include four daughters, Sharon (Tim)  Turner, Edmonton, Sandy (Greg) Moss, Edmonton, Carol York, Edmonton and April (Lucas) Syra, Summer Shade; two sons, Harold Ballard, Tompkinsville, and Bryan Ballard, Edmonton; two sisters, Betty (Phil) Neilander, Indiana and Sheila Garmon (Marrowbone); one brother, Stevie Huff, Glasgow; her adopted daughter, Kathy Milam, Summer Shade, eight grandchildren, Amanda Wilson, Sarah Brown, Emily Blythe, Megan and Daniel Moss, Tyler Rigsby, Skiler and Keegen Pearson; eleven great grandchildren Hayden, Cameron, Logan, Mason, Easton, Ava and Emma Wilson, Jaxson and Ace Daugherty, Payton Brown and Tanner Boston; and special caregiver Melissa Coomer.
   She was preceded in death by her parents ,the father of her children, Kenneth Ballard, three brothers, Bobby Huff, Marvin Huff, and Donald Huff; and one sister, Linda Huff.
   Funeral services will be Monday, December 29, 2014, at 1:00 at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Ronnie Wilson, officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Mt. Hermon Cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday, December 28, 2014, at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.
   Memorials may be made to the funeral fund.

Woodrow Wilson


 Woodrow Wilson, age 88, of Edmonton, died Wednesday December 24, 2014, at his home.
   Born March 3, 1926, in Gascon, Ky, he was a son of the late Sherman A. and Myrtie Alice Hubbard Wilson, and the husband of Latoka Warf Wilson, who survives.
   He was Metcalfe County Judge Executive for 28 years and a member of the Grace Union Baptist Church.
   Survivors in addition to his wife, include one daughter Shelia (Jimmy) Young, Edmonton, five grandchildren, Angie (Billy) Bryant, Steve (Samantha) Wilson II, Micah (Jared) Bennett, Oris Lee (Chasity) Young, and Woody Wilson (Tia) all of Edmonton; ten great grandchildren; one stepson, Steve (Georgia) Whitlock, Ocala, Fl; five step grandchildren; and caretakers Mary Jane Wilson, Stacy Morgan, Debbie Harper and a special little friend, Michelle Morgan.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, the mother of his children, Kathryn Yates Wilson, three sons, Steve Wilson, Michael Wilson, and Tommy Wilson, and four brothers and seven sisters.
   Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 28, 2014, at 1:00 PM at the Edmonton Worship Center Gym, with Bro. Larry Williams, Randall Gray, and Herb Sparks officiating. Burial will follow in the Hubbard Cemetery. Visitation will begin Saturday, December 27, 2014, at 10:00 AM at the Edmonton Worship Center gym.
   Memorials may be made to the T J Samson Hospice.
   Arrangements are under the direction of the McMurtrey Funeral Home.

SONYA DAWN HOUK PAGE

   Sonya Dawn Houk Page , age 51, of Edmonton, died Friday, December 05, 2014, at her home.
   Born April 25, 1963 in Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Bobby Joe and Sheila Hensley Houk and the wife of Gary D. Page, who survives. They were married 33 years.
   She was a retired secretary for Edmonton Elementary and a member of the Missionary Mound Missionary Baptist Church.
   Survivors in addition to her husband, include one daughter, Kara (Britt) Young, Edmonton; one sister Renita Jackson, Edmonton; mother in law, Wandalene Page, Edmonton, and several nieces, great nieces, and one great nephew.
   She was also preceded in death by her father in law, Otis Page.
   Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 8, 2014, at 1:00 PM at the Missionary Mound Baptist Church, with Brother Dale Copas and Walter Graham officiating. Burial will follow in the Missionary Mound Cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday, December 7, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home and on Monday from 7-9:30 at the funeral home, and  after 10:00 at the church.

   Memorials may be made to the Missionary Mound Cemetery.

FRANCES (FRAN) PATTERSON HODGE


   Frances (Fran) Mae Patterson Hodge, age 72, of Glasgow, died November 16, 2014, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
   Born September 28, 1941 in Metropolis, IL, she was the daughter of the late Dollie Tapley and Claude (Pat) Patterson, and the wife of Ray Hodge, who survives. They were married for 53 years.
   She was a housewife and of the Protestant faith.
   Survivors in addition to her husband, include one daughter, Sherry Anderson, Glasgow; one granddaughter Lastachia Houchens; three great grandchildren; one brother, Chuck Patterson, Paducah, and one half brother Gene Enman, Metropolis, IL.
   Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the White Cemetery in Monroe County. Visitation will begin Monday, November 17, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the funeral home and Tuesday after 7 until time of services.

   Memorials are suggested to the DAV chapter 20 and can be left at the funeral home.

LESTER VENIS HAGAN


   Lester Venis Hagan, age 101, of Burkesville, died November 4, 2014 at the Cumberland County Hospital.
   He was born September 14, 1913, in Tompkinsville. He was a son of the late Arthur and Susan Brown Hagan and the husband of the late Bina Johnson Hagan.
   He was a concrete finisher and a farmer, and of the Church of Christ faith.
   He is survived by one daughter, Beverly Hagan, of Burkesville: one sister, Iva Copeland, Mooresville, Indiana; 10 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death, besides his wife and parents, by one son, Larry Hagan, two daughters, Inell Estep and Elsie Muse; three sisters, three brothers, and 2 great grandchildren.
   Funeral services will be November 7, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Mud Camp Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Friday, November 7, 2014, and continue until time of funeral services.

Velma Rachele (Lollar) Cross

Velma Rachele (Lollar) Cross, age 66 of Scottsville died November 4, 2014 at the Medical Center in Scottsville.
 She was born June 19, 1948 in Summer Shade to the late James Sammie and Mable Odell (Humes) Lollar.
She was a nurse and a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by four sisters Exie Vance and Barbie Lollar of Summer Shade, Linda Arnett of Tompkinsville and Donna (Tom) White of Celina. Four brothers William Lollar, Mitchell (Wanda) Lollar of Summer Shade, Ricky (Joyce) Lollar of Glasgow and Chris (Cindy) Lollar of Edmonton. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceeded in death by three brothers in laws, Jack Harris, Vechel Vance and Jerry Arnett.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 8, 2014 from 9:00 till 1:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home as cremation was chosen. Burial will follow in the Gee Harvey Cemetery.

Linda Carol Stone


Linda Carol Stone, age 54 of Glasgow died Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Glenview Health Care.
Born March 18, 1960 in Randolph, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Sam and Hazel Muncie Stone. She was a homemaker and of the Jehovah’s Witness faith.
She is survived by one sister Brenda Stone of Glasgow and four brothers, Roger Stone of Kino, Roy Stone of Edmonton, Clifton Stone of Lexington and Donnie Stone of Glasgow. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents she was preceeded in death by brothers Jody, Marshall, Mitchell and Vechel Stone and William Muncie and two sisters Velma Branham and Louise Stone.
Funeral services will be Wednesday – November 5, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Randolph Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday November 4 at the funeral home

Martha Lovie Murley

Martha Lovie Murley, age 94 of Willow Shade, died Wednesday October 29 at Glenview Health care. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Jennie Lois Brown Murley and was of the Baptist Faith.
She is survived by three daughters: Margaret Kendall of Indiana, Libby (Roy) Grissom of Louisville and Jenny (Jackie) White of Willow Shade. Ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceeded in death by two sons, Bill Murley and Shelton (Cubby) Farris, two grandchildren Brandon Murley and Lora Ann Young. Three brothers Hugh, Charlie and Fred Murley.
Funeral services will be Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with Bro. Roy Grissom officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaumont cemetery

Visitation will begin Saturday, November 1, 2014 after 2:00 P.M.

BONNIE LOUISE GRAY RUSSELL


  Bonnie Louise Gray Russell, age 67, of Summer Shade, died Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at T J Samson Hospital.
  Born August 6, 1947 in Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Kathleen Nunn Gray, and the wife of Gobal Russell, who survives.
  She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
  She is survived by one son, Johnny (Susan) Russell, Summer Shade; one brother, Johnny (Jill) Gray; and one grandchild J T Russell.
  A brother, Jimmy Gray, and a sister Marcella Gray, preceded her in death.
  Cremation was chosen and a private memorial service will be held later.

JAMES (JIMMY) ISENBERG

 James (Jimmy) Morris Isenberg, age 87, of Summer Shade, died October 14, 2014, at NHC in Glasgow.
  He was born May 31, 1927, in Cave City, to the late Elzie and Donnie Proffitt Isenberg. He was married to Joyce Payne Isenberg, who survives, for 68 years.
  He was a barber for 22 years and a farmer. He was a member of the Christian Church of Summer Shade, and a Navy veteran.
  He is also survived by four sons, Larry Isenberg (Rosemary Morgan), Glasgow, Donald (Phylis) Isenberg, Glasgow, Terry (Christina) Isenberg, Summer Shade, and Chris (Redonna) Isenberg, Summer Shade; four grandchildren, Erin, Courtney, Madison and Parker; and 4 great grandchildren, Colby, Oakley, Kailee, and Preslie.
  He was preceded in death by four brothers, William, Ward, Clarence and Cecil, and five sisters, Dorothy, Imogene, Arlene, Jessie, and Marie.
  Funeral services will be Thursday, October 14, 2014, at 1:00 PM at the Summer Shade Christian Church, with Brother Bob Priest officiating, burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 4:00 PM at McMurtrey Funeral Home and Thursday, at the funeral home until 11:00 AM and at the church until time of services.

CHARLES J HATTON


   Charles J Hatton, age 87, of Edmonton, died October 13, 2014, at his home.
   He was born May 30, 1927, in Hazzard, Kentucky. He was a son of the late Vernie (Harper) and Charlie Hatton and the husband of the late Shelba Jean (Williams) Hatton. He worked as a coal miner, was of the Christian faith, and was an Army veteran.
   He is survived by one daughter, Barbara (Randall) Bowling, Edmonton; three sons Kenneth  (Ruth) Hatton, Edmonton, Troy  (Melinda) Hatton, Indianapolis and Matt Hatton, Indianapolis;  ten grandchildren, Charles Hatton, Kenneth Hatton, Stephanie Hatton, Chris Abrams, Christie Hatton, Tiffany Hatton, Elizabeth Hatton, Jessica Hatton, Allen Bowling, and Dustin Bowling; and one great grandchild, Xavier Stephans.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sisters, Marie Cardwell and Orie Hatton and five brothers, Walter, Evert, J T, Raymond, and Lynn Hatton.
   Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at 2:00 PM at McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Brother Mark Parke officiating and burial to follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Metcalfe County.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM at the funeral home and will continue until time of the service.

MAXINE HURT GARMON

  Maxine Hurt Garmon, age 88, of Edmonton, died September 5, 2014 at T J Samson Hospital.
  She was born November 14, 1925. She was the daughter of Pascal and Emma Shive Hurt.
  She married James S. Garmon, August 19, 1945 at the home of Rev. Lucian Romines. James preceded her in death, March 18, 2004.
  She is survived by three sons, Ted Garmon (special friend, Janis Davis), Glasgow, Jimmy W. Garmon, Summer Shade, and Jerry Mac Garmon, Edmonton; four grandsons, T. J. Garmon, Owensboro, Wayne (Sheila) Garmon, Glasgow, Jason Garmon, Glasgow, and Chase Garmon, Edmonton; four great grandchildren Hayley and Nicholos Garmon, Owensboro, and Kristen and Lindsy Garmon, Glasgow; one brother Billy Hurt (Sue), Summer Shade; one aunt, Delphia Coffey, Glasgow and several nieces and nephews.
  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one half sister, Wilma Parke, one brother, Edward Hurt, and one sister, Cora Jennings.
  She was a member of Beaumont United Methodist Church and was active until her health failed.
   Maxine lived a long and full life. She was a loving and caring wife and mother. She was a farm wife, and employee of Topps Mfg., 10 years, and Sorenson for 14 years, where she retired in 1982. She was employed by Home Care as a respite worker for 18 years. She worked in 25 homes and loved and thought of them as family. She resigned in 1998 to care for her husband, who was battling Alzheimer’s. She lovingly cared for him 6 years, until his death in 2004.

   Funeral services will be Monday, September 8, 2014, at 1:00 PM at the Beaumont Methodist Church with Bro Joe Wilcoxson officiating, burial will follow in the Beaumont Cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday, September 7, 2014, at 12:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, and continue Monday from 7 until 10:30 at the funeral home and from 11 until time of services at the church.
   Memorials are suggested to the Beaumont Cemetery and can be left or sent to the funeral home.

ERVIN JUNIOR BLYTHE


   Ervin Junior Blythe, age 53, of Beaumont, passed away at his home Sunday, August 31, 2014.
   He was born in Metcalfe County, June 8, 1961, a son of the late Junior Radford and Ruby Page Blythe.  He was a carpenter and of the Baptist faith.
  He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Diane Gross Blythe; two daughters Melissa (Matthew) Shaw, Glasgow and Kayla (Marty) Bryant, Hardyville; four brothers, Roy (Deborah) Blythe, Edmonton, Kelly Blythe, Beaumont, Kenneth Blythe, Beaumont, and James (Karen) Blythe, Beaumont;  two sisters, Betty (Neddie) Whitlow, Beaumont, and Bonnie (Larry) Willis, Marrowbone; one grandchild, Kenna Briar Shaw; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, and friends.
   Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at 1:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with Bro. William Pennington officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lone Star Cemetery. Visitation will begin Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at 3:00 PM at the funeral home and continue Wednesday, until time of services.

James Douglas (JD) Barlow Sr., age 78, of Summer Shade, died August 30, 2014, at TJ Samson Hospital.
   He was born in Summer Shade on April 18, 1936 to the late Otis Ben and Nettie Norene Buckner Barlow.
   He was a farmer and of the Baptist faith.
   He is survived by 4 daughters, Martha Barlow and Wandalene Barlow, Edmonton, Pamela (Robert) Forrest, Indianapolis, Ind., Tavonna Barlow, Bowling Green;  3 sons, Junior Barlow,  Summer Shade, William Thomas (Felicia) Barlow, Bowling Green, and Ricky Dale Barlow, Summer Shade; one sister, Joyce (Robert) Driver, Glasgow; four brothers, Billy Barlow, Glasgow, Freddy (Patty) Barlow, Glasgow, and LeRoyce (Linda) Barlow, Edmonton, and Tim Barlow; ten grandchildren, JaMarvin, Jordan, Patrika, LaKrissa, Andrew, Brandon, Austin, Alayah, Jaylen, and Easton; one great grandchild Keegan; and caregiver, friend, and the mother of his children, Emma Barlow, Edmonton.
   He was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Lee Barlow and one sister Magalene Smith.

   Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at 12:00PM at the Summer Shade Missionary Baptist Church, with Reverend Charles Fishback, officiating, with burial to follow in the Trinity Lane Cemetery. Visitation will begin Monday, September 1, 2014 at 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, and after 10:00 on Monday at the church.

MARY RUTH ANDERSON DYER




Mary Ruth Anderson Dyer, age 63, of Eighty Eight, Kentucky, died August 15, 2014 at her home.
She was born July 20, 1951 in Rankin, IL.  She was a daughter of the late Lee Austin and Betty Marie Dean Anderson.
She worked as a nurse and was of the Catholic faith.
She is survived by two daughters, Betty Jo (Eddie) Brown, Summer Shade, and Angela (Freddie) White, Center Point; two sons, Melvin (Stephanie) Norris, Oakland, and Paul (Stephanie) Norris, Tompkinsville; one step son, Mickey Russell; special friend, Jamie Adams; one sister, Barbara Lee Mullens, Hoorston; two brothers, George Leland Anderson and Melvin Leon Anderson; twelve grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Nile Dyer, and Marvin Lee Norris, and one sister, Gerald Marlene Anderson.

Private services will be held later as Cremation was chosen.

PHILLIP RICHARDSON BARTLEY




 

Phillip Richardson Bartley, age 74, of Glasgow, died at his home, August 4, 2014, after a lengthy illness.  
 He was born November 26, 1939, in Beaumont, a son of the late Jack and Opal Shelley Bartley.
  He was retired from SKF.
  He is survived by one daughter, Benita Bartley, Franklin; one son, Chris (Brenda) Bartley, Glasgow; one sister, Marjorie, (Curtis, Jr.) Shelley, Glasgow; three brothers, Daryl (Sharon) Bartley, Summer Shade, Gary (Brenda) Bartley, Eighty Eight, and Morris (Tammy)  Bartley, Glasgow;  one grandchild, Moriah Bartley; and by  the mother of his children, Linda Bartley, Glasgow.
  He was also preceded in death by one brother, Jackie Bartley.
      Visitation will be Wednesday, August 6, 2014 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and will continue after 7:00 am on Thursday at McMurtrey Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Thursday, August 7, 2014, at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with burial to follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery.

Sylvia Sue Smith

Sylvia Sue Smith, age 71 died August 2, 2014 at the St Thomas Hospital in Nashville.
She was born in Edmonton on May 4, 1943 to the late Tom and Pearlie Turner Smith.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith.
She is survived by four daughters, Kathy Faulkner, Brenda Nance and Linda Vibbert of Edmonton and Donna Furkin of Tompkinsville. Two sons, Tony Parrish and Freddy Parrish. twenty one grandchildren, Jill, Kim, Eric and Clay Faulkner, Tommy Parrish, Chris Parrish, Felichia Furkin, Carson, Marketta, Lynn, Sunshine and Travis Vibbert, Teresa and Lisa Parrish, Linda Muse, Barbara Ann Parrish, Anthony Parrish, Nancy and Freddy Parrish Jr., Rickey (Pete) and David Hammer and Tamara McCoy and 28 great grandchildren.
Two sisters Dina Smith of Edmonton and Earlene Smith of Eunice, Ky.
In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by one daughter Tammy McCoy, two infant grandsons and one brother Bobby Smith.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 6 at 11:00 A.M. at the Willow Shade Baptist Church with Bro. Don Howard officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaumont Cemetery. Visitation will begin Monday August 4 at 4:00 P.M. and continue Tuesday at 7:00 A.M.  and Wednesday from 7:00 A.M. until 9:30 A.M. and after10:00 A.M. at the church.

MARY LUCILE CUMMINS

Mary Lucile Cummins, age 76, of Glasgow, formerly of Summer Shade, died August 1, 2014, at T J Samson Hospital.
   She was the daughter of the late Morad and Grace Strode Cummins. She was born April 27, 1938 in Summer Shade, Kentucky.
   She was of the Church of Christ faith.
   She is survived by one sister, May Dell (Philip) Whitlow of Summer Shade and several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, Edna Marie Cummins, Ruby Hegseth, and Patty Williams; three brothers, Virgil Cummins, Tom Cummins, and Alonzo Cummins; and one half brother Clarence Cummins.

   Funeral services will be Monday, August 4, 2014, at 1:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Brother Gary Richardson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, in Metcalfe County. Visitation will be Sunday, August 3, 2014, at the funeral home, from 4:00 – 8:00, and on Monday until time of service.

REID WELSH

   Reid Welsh, age 75, of Edmonton, died Monday, July 21, 2014, at T J Samson Hospital.
   Born September 12, 1938 in Cumberland County to the late Lee and Dollie Riddle  Welsh.
   He worked as a welder in the Agricultural industry.
   He is survived by one son, Michael Welsh (Angela), Edmonton; one daughter, Janie Holmes (Tom), Glasgow; three grandchildren, Macy and Ben Welsh and Jack Holmes;  three brothers, Vernon, Legene, and Lonnie Welsh, all of Summer Shade; one sister, Nelda Siddens, Glasgow.
   He was also preceded in death by one brother, Myron Welsh, and one sister, Neva Estes.
   Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 24, 2014, at 11:00 AM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with  Brother Gary Richardson officiating, burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will begin Wednesday July 23, 2014 at 3:00 PM and continue at the funeral home until time of services on Thursday.

  Tresa Ann (Kennison) Kinslow, age 54 of Glasgow, died July 18, 2014 at T J Samson hospital.
  She was born December 16, 1959 to Wendell and Lois (Kirsh) Kennison who survive.
  In addition she is survived by her husband William Kinslow; two daughters, Angie Kinslow of Glasgow and Lacey (Richard) Hockett  of Iowa; one son, Mark Kinslow of Glasgow; three brothers, Roger (Cherrie) Kennison of Mount Washington, Michael Kennison of Louisville and Gregory (Linda) Kennison of Summer Shade; four grandchildren, Jacelyn Kinslow, Cristina Guzman, Jassmine Guzman and Jessica Allen,

Martha Bowles Tudor

   Martha Bowles Tudor, age 81, of Summer Shade, died July 16, 2014, at T. J. Samson Hospital.
   She was born March 10, 1933, in Metcalfe County, to the late Joe Troy and Maude Taylor Bowles.  She was the wife of the late Joe Tudor.
   She was a homemaker and a member of the Summer Shade Baptist Church.
   Survivors include one daughter Tamara Blaydes (Gary), Center; two sons, Tony Tudor (Nancie), Tompkinsville, and Tim Tudor, Summer Shade; 6 grandchildren, Daniel Tudor, Kelly Oliver, Joseph Corey Tudor, Haley Martin, Hannah Shaw, and Hilary Harmon; 3 great grandchildren, Hunter and Kenton Oliver, and Caleigh Harmon; one brother, Sherman Bowles, Glasgow.
  She was preceded in death by four brothers, Kenneth (Red) Bowles, Joe Bowles, Harrison Bowles, and Tom Bowles.
     Funeral services will be Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 2:00, at the Summer Shade Baptist Church, with Brother Chad Harston officiating, burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will begin Friday, July 18, at 12:00 at the McMurtrey Funeral Home and continue Saturday, July 19, 2014, from 9:00 until time of services at the Summer Shade Baptist Church.

Robert Lee Hagan


Robert Lee Hagan, age 90, of Glasgow, died at his residence Friday, July 04, 2014.
 He was born in Tompkinsville, Ky on January 11, 1924, to the late Benton and Edna Bartley Hagan, and the husband of the late Mary Strode Hodges Hagan.
  He worked as a construction worker for National Homes in Lafayette, Indiana and was a member of the Church of Christ.
   Survivors include one daughter Janie Johns (Robert), Bowling Green; three sons, Larry Hagan, Tompkinsville, Roger Hagan, Glasgow, and Mark Hagan, Burkesville; one sister, Edith Shirar, Lafayette, Indiana; five step children; one grandchild Lindsay Midkiff, Bowling Green; and one great grandchild, Kennedy Midkiff.
   He was also preceded in death by one step son.

   Funeral services will be Monday, July 7, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Brother George Jones officiating, burial will follow in the White Cemetery in Monroe County. Visitation will begin Sunday, July 6, 2014 at 4:00 at the funeral home, and continue until time of the funeral.

Jimmy Lee Anderson

   Jimmy Lee Anderson, age 51, of Marrowbone, died July 3, 2014, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
  He was born June 2, 1963 to the late Kenneth Earl and Dorothy Shaw Anderson in Tompkinsville. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Janette Vibbert Anderson.
  He was truck driver and of the Methodist faith.
  Survivors include, one daughter, Tara Denise Anderson, Monticello; one son, Edward Chad Spears (fiancé Jennifer Riddle) , Burkesville; one sister, Charlotte Sparks of Edmonton; three brothers, Calvin and Tommy Anderson of Edmonton and Tony Anderson, Burkesville; seven grandchildren, Cameron, Rhyleigh and Peyton Overshiner Hayden and Keleigh Spears, Gavin Riddle and J. P. Burns; and mother in law, Daisy Vibbert of  Burkesville.
   He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Wesley Anderson and Gary Jefferson.
   Funeral services will be Sunday, July 6 at 1:00 at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with Bro. Barry Davis officiating, burial will follow at the Mud Camp Cemetery. Visitation will begin Saturday, July 5, at 2:00 at the funeral home.

Carol June (Whitlow) McMurtrey

  Carol June McMurtrey, age 75, of Summer Shade, died June 28, 2014 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green.
  She was born August 25, 1938 to the late Robert and Helen Mackey Whitlow, and was the widow of the late Kenneth McMurtrey. They were married March 18, 1955.
  She was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother,  and a member of the Summer Shade Missionary Baptist Church.
  She is survived by six daughters, Charlotte (Rick) Fields, Summer Shade, Teresa (Jeff) Welsh, Temple Hill, Janet (Mitchell) Pedigo, Summer Shade, Chris (Benny) Lile, Center,
Rhonda (Wayne) Lockwood, Elizabethtown, and Robin McMurtrey, Summer Shade; five grandchildren, Adam (Heather) Welsh, Tara Pedigo, Cameron and Casey Lile, and Allan Lockwood; one brother in law, Dale Rowlett, and 2 sister in laws, Joan Whitlow, and Carol Ann McMurtrey.
   She was also preceded in death by one sister, Myra Gail Rowlett and one brother Robert Norris Whitlow.
   Funeral services will be Wednesday July 2, 2014 at 1:00 at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Larry Cooksey, officiating, burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will begin Monday, June 30, 2014 at 4:00 Central Time, continuing Tuesday, and Wednesday until time of services.

Donald Ray (Donnie) Priddy

Donald Ray (Donnie) Priddy, age 66 of Glasgow (formerly of Upton) died June 23, 2014 at his residence.
He was born in Upton, Ky. on March 1, 1948 to the late Dora Rosevelt and Alma Riggs Priddy.
He was an Army Veteran having served in Vietnam and worked at G.E. in Louisville afterwards.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Priddy, two sons Chris Priddy of Upton and Donnie Priddy, Jr. of Elizabethtown, two step daughters, Shelly (Bobby) Flood of Glasgow and Elgenia (Todd) Hastings of Woodlawn, Tn., six sisters, Ada Sanders of Radcliff and Opal Miller, Maurie Hynes, Catherin Oloughlin, Francis Growemeyer and Dorothy Lawison all of Louisville and two brothers, Harold Priddy of Elizabethtown of and Russell (Melva) Priddy of Louisville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by two brothers Hoover and James Priddy and one sister in law Belva Priddy.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. central standard time at the Summer Shade Cemetery with burial to follow. Viewing will be Wednesday from 8:00 until 1:00 at the McMurtrey Funeral Home.

Herbert (Herb) Evan Branham




  Herbert (Herb) Evan Branham, age 81, of Summer Shade, died June 11, 2014, at the Monroe County Medical Center.
  He was the son of the late Mollie Vibbert and Thomas Evan Branham, born in Dubre, Kentucky, October 20, 1932. He is survived by his wife, of 62 years, Ruby Turner Branham. They were married April 12, 1952.
  He worked at Mallorys 29 years, and was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
  He is also survived by 3 daughters, Marilyn Page, Summer Shade, Debbie (Jimmy) Coe, Tompkinsville, and Donna Branham, Summer Shade; one sister, Iva Shaw, Greenwood, Indiana; five grandchildren, Craig Bunch, Summer Shade, Cliff Bunch, Glasgow, Justin Bunch, Tompkinsville, Nina Bunch, Tompkinsville, and Nikki Grider, Summer Shade; and seven great grandchildren, Kendall, Kaitlyn, Sabashtyn, Jackson, Jenna Fay, Damiann, and Landen; and a special family member, Jon Washer.
  He was preceded in death, by his parents, one sister, Inell Luttrell and five infant brothers and sisters.
  Funeral services will be Sunday, June 15, 2014, at 1:30 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Bean, officiating, with burial to follow in the Franklin Cemetery in Cumberland County. Visitation will be Friday, June 13, at 3:00 PM, Saturday, June 14, and Sunday until time of the service.

  Charles Edwin Riordan, age 81, of Louisville, Kentucky, died June 9, 2014 at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
  He was born June 24, 1932 at Horse Cave, Kentucky to the late Eddie and Ada Perkins Riordan and the husband of the late Laquinta Shive Riordan.
  He was retired from General Electric and he  was an army veteran of the Korean War.
  Survivors include, one daughter Donna (Garry) Montgomery, Indianapolis, Indiana and one son Terry Riordan, Louisville, Kentucky; one brother James White, Elizabethtown; two grandchildren, Scott Riordan, Louisville and Thomas Riordan, Henryville, Indiana; and four great grandchildren, Noah, Levi, Ethan and Lane.

  Lindell Dale Edwards, age 60, of Elkhorn, Kentucky, formerly of Center, Kentucky,  passed away June l, 2004, at Pikeville Medical Center. He was the son of the late Raymond and Kathleen Kelly Edwards.
   He is survived by one sister, Lisa (Jeff) Hunt and one brother Richard Edwards.
   Private funeral services will be held later, with burial in the Jeffries Cemetery.

  Gary Wayne Crumpton, age 56, of Austin, died May 10, 2014 at his residence.
  He was born May 27, 1957 in Barren County. He was the son of the late Rondal H. and Edna Earl Tarry Crumpton. He is also survived by his wife, Kimberly Ann Whitehall Crumpton.
  He worked in Maintenance and was of the Baptist faith.
  Survivors in addition to his wife, include one son, Jimmy Wayne (Patti) Crumpton, Haywood; one step-daughter, Nichole Zattau, Bowling Green; two sisters, Ronetta (Ronnie) Morgan, Glasgow, and Loretta (Doug) Garmon, Knob Lick; and three brothers, Danny (Lou) Crumpton, Austin, Phillip (Susan) Crumpton, Glasgow,  and David (Sandy) Crumpton, Horse Cave; two step grandchildren; and three step great grandchildren.
  He was preceded in death by his parents and step mother, Edna Earl Huff.
  Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Visitation will begin, Monday May 12, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.

Peggy Muse Levoy, age 64 of Glasgow, died Monday May, 5, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Cumberland County September 19, 1949 to the late Sanford and Emmie Shaw Muse.
She was a member of the Powder Mills Baptist Church and worked in sales with Home Interiors.
She is survived by two daughters, Marketta Dubree and her husband Gary of Tompkinsville and Shonell Scott of Glasgow, one grandson Tyler Scott, one brother Rueal Muse of Greenwood, In. and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by one sister Margaret Kathleen (Sister) Steiger and one brother Royal Muse.

Rollin Harper, Jr. age 85 of Edmonton, Ky. died Sunday April, 27, 2014 at the Barren County Health Care in Glasgow. Rollin was born November 2, 1928 in Chicago, Il. to the late Rollin and Ruby Fields Harper. He was a retired farmer and a member of Society Hill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Dorothy Pearl Harper of Edmonton, two daughters, Teresa (Bobby) Riddle of Burkesville and Colleen (Eric) Poynter of Glasgow and one son Chris (Kathy) Harper of Edmonton.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Tim Perkins, Tina Blackburn, Stephanie Cash, Shawn Riddle, Christy Holder, Marsha Houchens, Chad Smith, Erica Brown, Sadie Poynter and Alex Poynter and 14 great- grandchildren and three sisters, Cary Dabney of In., Joyce Ford of Chicago and Norma Parnell of Edmonton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by one son Douglas Gayle Harper and one sister Priscilla Harper.
There will be a private memorial service held at a later date as cremation was chosen.

               Vernon Kester Ketchem, age 48, of Greensburg, died April 13, 2014 at the Jane Todd Crawford Hospital. He was the son of the late Vernon Leon Ketchem and Hazel Leamons Ketchem who survives. He was a carpenter and of the Methodist faith.
  Besides his mother, he is survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
  He was preceded in death by his father and one brother Michael Steve Ketchem.

  He is also survived besides his wife; by one daughter, Sandra Barnett, Summer Shade; three sons, Randy (Sherry) Smith, Edmonton, Terry (Marsha) Smith, Hardyville, and Danny Smith, Edmonton; three sisters, Dina Smith, Edmonton, Sylvia Smith, Tompkinsville, and Earlene Smith, Eunice, Kentucky; fourteen  grandchildren, Clinton Smith, Bridget Harper, Dusty England, Tyra Weaver, Angela Zipf, Crystal Webb, Corey Barnett, Shelby Hostetler, Jordan Deppe, Justin Deppe, Brianna Ridlen, Bryan Smith, Brandon Smith, and Blake Smith; and 15 great grandchildren.
 He was preceded in death by his parents.

  She was born April 3, 1920 to the late Clarence and Roxie Hurt Pedigo in the Wisdom community of Metcalfe County.  She was the widow of the late Denzil Ray Perkins.
  She was a housewife and a member of the Hickory College Church of Christ.
  She is survived by three daughters; Carolyn (Tom) Turner, The Villages, Fla., Virginia Perkins, Glasgow, and Kim Perkins, Edmonton; two sons Stanley (Kay) Perkins, Summer Shade, and Jeff  (Kim) Perkins, Hiseville; one sister, Helen Lawson, Glasgow and one brother Raymond Pedigo, Hiseville; six grandchildren and several great grand children; and one daughter in law,  Lana Perkins.
  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons Louie Dale and Billy Dean Perkins, and one daughter Nancy Haile, a daughter in law Nell Perkins, and one sister and three brothers.

Geneva Jane Davis Parke, age 87, of Dubre, KY, died March 25, 2014, at the Cumberland County Hospital.
She was born May 29, 1926, in Marrowbone Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Sidney and Janie Anderson Davis. She was the widow of the late Kyle Parke. She was a housewife.
She is survived by two sons, Lonnie (Janet) Parke and Timmie (Sue) Parke; One brother, Eugene Davis of Scottsdale; by six grandchildren, Johnnie Parke, Sheila Parke, Betsy Moore, Josh Parke, Garren Parke, and Corey Parke.  She is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren and one step great grandchild and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kyle, son Donnie, and stepson Rondal Parke. Bothers and sisters Opal Horton, Maynard Smith, Alma Smith, Lorene Smith, Hub Davis, Oakley Davis  and one great grandchild Sydney Proffitt.

  Noel Evaleen Peers, age 80, of Glasgow, Kentucky, died March 23, 2014, at her home.
She was born November 6, 1933, in Glasgow, Kentucky, to the late Earl and Mary Whitlow Peers.
  She had retired from T. J. Samson Hospital and was of the Methodist faith. 
  She is survived by two nephews, David (Sherry) and Danny Peers both of the Atlanta, Ga. area; great nieces and nephews, Whitney, Jacob and Jeremy Peers and several cousins.
  She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Morris Peers and life long friend of 65 years Bill Oliver.

   Martha Lou Stephens Bragg, age 66, of Knob Lick, Kentucky, died March 22, 2014 at Vanderbilt Hospital.
  She was born May 23, 1947, in Edmonton, Kentucky. She was a daughter of the late Finis and Beulah Froedge Stephens. She was the wife of Bill Bragg.
  She was a homemaker and of the Church of Christ faith.              
   In addition to her husband she is also survived  by one daughter, Velvet (Riley) Philpott, Summer Shade; two sons Jonathan (Sarah) Bragg, Mt. Juliet, Tn., and Delton Bragg, Knob Lick.
She is also survived by three sisters, Marie (Ron) Lytle, Scottsburg, Ind., Mary (Dennis) Fancher, Indianapolis, Ind., and Elizabeth Shirley, Glasgow; four brothers, James (Red) Stephens, Edmonton, Jimmy Stephens, Louisville, Jesse Stephens, Ind. and Rondal Stephens, Edmonton. She is also survived by one grandchild William Philpott Jr.
  She was preceded in death by her parents and several half brothers and sisters.

  Billy Ray McClellan, age 70, of Glasgow, died Sunday, March 9,2014, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky.
He was born February 8, 1944 in Glasgow, Ky., he was the son of the late Roy and Estell Pace McClellan, and the husband of the late Annette Ellis McClellan.
  He was a farmer and a Vietnam Army  Veteran.
  He is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
  He was preceded in death, besides his parents and wife, by three sisters, Dorthy Bertram, Elizabeth Woodcock, and June Glass; and one brother, Levy Lawrence McClellan.

She is survived by three daughters,  Teresa Langley and Rebecca Priest both of Leitchfield and Anita ( Johnny) Sanders of St. Petersburg, Fla;  one son, Malcolm Cary of Lakeland, Fla;  two sisters, Faye (Ron) Freeman of Mooresville, In. and Linda Thompson of Cincinnati,O.. one brother, Marshall ( Kathy Jo) Smith of Edmonton;  ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Douglas Smith and Gary Thompson.

Nancy Russell Cheatham Kelly ,age 81 of Eighty Eight, died Sunday night, Feb. 23, 2014 at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow. She was a daughter of the late James and Annie Elliot Cheatham and a retired bookkeeper for the petroleum industry. She attended the Beech Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by one sister, Rebecca Cary of London,Ky; one nephew, James Cary and four nieces, Kay Bill, Nancy Shipcott, Becky Walters and Helen Roberts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Marvin Smith and Edward Kelley, two brothers Robert and James Ray Cheatham and one sister, Anna Beth Yarborough.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 27 at 2:00 at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with Bro. Berlon Roy officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 27 from 11:00 A.M. until funeral time at 2:00 P.M.

CHARLES WILLIAM FORREST

Charles William Forrest, age 78 of Columbia, Ky. went home to be with the Lord early Friday evening on January 31, 2014, following a long illness.  He passed quietly while resting at home in Hinton, WV.
He was born August 3, 1935, in Willow Shade, Ky, the son of the late Edgar W. and Lora T. Martin Forrest.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, having served a tour in Germany as a truck driver and cook during the l950's.  Charles then worked as a self employed carpenter throughout the rest of his life.  He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, companion and brother who enjoyed reading his KIV 16ll AV Bible.
Survivors include his companion, Rheeda Foose of Hinton, WV;  one son Charles(Chuck) S. Forrest of Milton,Fla;  two daughters, Rebecca Ballard and her husband, Nick of Kansas City, Ks and Diana R. Forrest of Tallahassee, Fl;  one step daughter Connie Crews of Hinton, WV;  one sister, Rose Mary Snively of Crawfordsville, In;  five brothers, Eddie Forrest Plainfield, In, Danny Forrest and his wife, Phyllis of Il.  Dennis Forrest and his wife, Cora of Crawfordsville, In  Terry Forrest and his wife, Lana of Jacksonville Fl;  Calvin Forrest of Crawordsville, In eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Livengood..
Graveside services will be organized by the McMurtrey Funeral Home Hwy 90 (East), Summer Shade, Ky.

LESLIE ALVIN SCHOEPFLIN, JR.

Leslie Alvin Schoepflin, Jr., age 34 of Summer Shade, died Thursday, February,06. 2014 at the T J Samson Community Hospital. He was a native of New York and was an employee of Southern Collision.  He was a son of Leslie Alvin and Tina Justine Parks Schoepflin of Summer Shade. He was
of the Baptist Faith.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Joeleana (Jo) Schoepflin;  One son Jemario Schoepflin;  three brothers,  Shannon Lee Gould and Leif Allison Schoepflin both of N. Y. and Lyle Ashley Schoepflin of Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by a son, Alvin Schoepflin.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 8 at 3:00 P M at the Mt. Union Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Fishback officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be at 12:00 P M Saturday until funeral time at 3:00 P M at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Summer Shade Fire Dept.or the Mt. Union Baptist Church.

PERNIE KINGREY MCCOY






  Pernie Kingrey McCoy, age 92, of Summer Shade, died January 23, 2014 at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.
  She was born March 25, 1921 in Summer Shade, Ky.  the daughter of the late Westerfield and Cassie Lester Kingrey and she was the wife of the late C.W. McCoy.
  She was a housewife and a member of the Tompkinsville Church of Christ.
  Survivors include three sons, Charles (Linda) McCoy, Louisville, Randell McCoy, Summer Shade, and Mike (Irene) McCoy, Glasgow; and one daughter Kay (Jackie) Geralds, Tompkinsville; eleven grandchildren, twenty seven great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
  She was preceded in death, by a son Kenneth McCoy, three sisters, Nell Bacon, Lucille McCoy, and Ruth Shaw, and one brother Lynn Kingrey.
  Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Lewis Blythe and Bro. Maxie Harper officiating. Burial will be in the Summer  Shade Cemetery. Visitation will begin Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 2 P.M. at the funeral home.

CHLOERENE ANDERSON DUBREE





                                                                   


Chloerene Anderson Dubree, age 90, of the Persimmon Community of Monroe County, died Friday, January 24, 2014 at the Monroe Health and Rehabilitation Center.
  She was the daughter of the late Trot and Maggie Bartley Anderson, and the widow of  Marshall Dubree.
  She was a retired cook for the Monroe County School system and was a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ.
  She is survived by one son by choice, Gary (Marketta ) Dubree of Tompkinsville, and several nieces and nephews.
  She was preceded in death, besides her parents and husband, by 3 sisters, Beatrice Anderson, Freeda Norman, and Myrtle Walden and 3 brothers, Blaine, John and Dwight Anderson.
  Funeral services will be Monday, January 27, at 1:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Lewis Blythe and Bro. Bob Norman officiating. Burial will be in the Skaggs Creek Cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday, January  26, at 3:30 P. M.

DEARIL W. JONES

  Dearil W. Jones, age 68 of Summer Shade, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.
  He was born December 3, 1945, in Summer Shade. He was the son of Lillian Traylor Lewis and the late Wayne Jones, and the husband of Juanita Fancher Jones.
  He was a retired truck driver, a veteran of the Army, and a member of Bethel Independent Baptist Church.
  Survivors other than his wife, and  mother are one son, Dwayne (Melissa) Jones, Glasgow; two daughters,
Sandra (Tony) Dehart, Owensboro, and Annette (Charles King) Jones, Summer Shade; one brother, Leroy Jennings, Edmonton; one sisters, Patricia (David Chapman) Jones, Temple Hill, and his stepfather, Homer Jennings.
  He was preceded in death by one son, James Jones, his father, Wayne Jones, and stepfather, James Lewis.
  Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 16, at 1:00 at McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Bro. Ricky Proffitt officiating. Interment will be in the Beaumont Cemetery. Visitation will begin Wednesday, January 15 from 1 PM until 6 PM at the funeral home.
  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Beaumont Cemetery.

MICKEY ALAN COLLINS


Mickey Alan Collins, age 59, of Summer Shade, died December 31, 2013, at the University of Louisville Hospital.
He was born March 16, 1954 in Hazard, Ky., the son of the late Bobby Gene and Dana Fields Collins of Indianapolis, In. who survives. He married Bonnie Shockley Westmoreland April 8, 2005.
He enjoyed camping, fishing and was an avid racing fan. He cherished his wife, adored his grandchildren and loved his family. He spent his days helping others at L & S Supply. His day was complete taking care of his faithful companion, Ginger. He was a veteran of the Army and of the Baptist faith.
He is also survived by two daughters; Christina (Chris) Zakes and Dana (Ben) Messex, both of Missouri; two stepdaughters, Melissa (Mike) Fulcher of Smiths Grove and Monica (Michael) Greer of Center; one stepson Willie Dale(Rhonda) Westmoreland of Summer Shade and two sisters; Pam (Gene) Algood and Penny (Wayne) Cummins of Indiana. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death his grandparents Sam and Rachel Fields and Curt and Essie Collins.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 3 at 2:00 P.M. at the Summer Shade Baptist Church with Bro. Chad Harston and Bro, Joe Shockley officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery.
Visitation will begin Thursday, January 2 at 3:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home and after 10:00 Friday at the church.
