William Watson Dubre


 

 

   William Watson Dubre, age 66, of Dubre passed away August 28, 2021 at Vanderbilt University Hospital. Born May 1, 1955 in Glasgow, he was a son of the late William Wallace and Ruby Glaydell Vibbert Dubre.

   He was a farmer and of the Church of Christ faith.

   Survivors include two daughters, Misty (Rob) Batdorf, Jeffersonville, IN and Lacey (Kevin) Kerr, Glasgow; two sons, Wesley (Carla) Dubre, Summer Shade and Brad (Tessa) Dubre, Summer Shade; 9 grandchildren, Tyler (Courtney) Dubre, Jessica (Clayton Richardson) Dubre, Jimmie Dubre, Kennady Dubre, Kendall Kerr, Kolten Dubre, Aubrey Batdorf, Levi Kerr and Stella Dubre; three great grandchildren, Paislee, Cooper and Connor; and the mother of his children, Debbie Dubre.

   Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Lydia Kerr and one sister, Kathy Alexander.

   Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Jeff Vibbert officiating. Burial will follow in the Marrowbone Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 31, 2021, 2:00-8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday morning after 8:00 A.M. until time of services at 11:00.

   Memorials may be made to Summer Shade Fire Department.

Barbara Gail Smith Hagan

  

 

   Barbara Gail Smith Hagan, age 56, of Summer Shade passed away Thursday, August 25, 2021 at Monroe County Medical Center. Born November 1, 1964 in Tompkinsville, KY she was a daughter of the late Clifton Smith and Ellen Ethridge Smith, who survives.

   Barbara worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Monroe County Medical Center for many years and was of the Church of Christ faith.

  Survivors other than her mother, include one sister, Nancy (Darrell Bennett) Miller, Glasgow; nieces, Cindy (David) Zipf and Amy (Johnathon Carter) Miller; one nephew, Daniel Miller; and one great niece and three great nephews, Jacie, Waylon, Case, and Kade.

   Other than her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Hagan; brother, Rickey Smith; and grandparents, Raymond and Mary Allen Smith and Covell and Beatrice Ethridge.

   Funeral services will be Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 12:00 noon at McMurtrey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the White Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, August 27, 2021, 3:00-8:00 P.M. and on Saturday, August 28, 2021 after 8:00 A.M.  until time of services at noon.

   In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the White Cemetery

Joyce Ann Blankenship Harper


    Joyce Ann Blankenship Harper, age 78, of Summer Shade, passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Signature Health Care in Tompkinsville. Born August 25, 1943 in Burkesville, KY she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Pearlie Hagan Blankenship.

   She was a homemaker, care giver, enthusiastic quilt maker, doll maker and cook.

   Survivors include three daughters, Janetta (Dicky) Kirk, Tompkinsville, Sharon McMurtrey, Summer Shade and Karen (Jimmy) Moore, Marrowbone; three sons, Junior (Teressa) Harper, Summer Shade, Ashley (Sarah) Harper, Glasgow and Wesley (Angie) Harper, Summer Shade; one sister, Dorothy McCool, Dubre; one brother, Arlie Ralph Blankenship, Dubre; twelve grandchildren, Jared Harper, Dustin Kirk, Travis Harper, Jacob Harper, Jamie Davis, Justin Moore, Russ McMurtrey, Emily McMurtrey, Ty McMurtrey, Zachary Harper, Abigail Harper, and Hunter Harper; and ten great grandchildren.

   Preceding her in death besides her parents was the father of her children, Phillip Harper and one sister Eva Vibbert.

   Funeral services will be Sunday, August 29, 2021, 2:00 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, August 29, 2021, 10:00 A.M.  until time of the service.

   Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association

Randy Mae Dyer Thacker


 

   Randy Mae Dyer Thacker, age 73, of the Lone Star Ridge community left this world for her heavenly home on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Cumberland County Hospital.

Born June 4, 1948, in the Pea Ridge community of Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Marvin and Dullie Long Thacker.

   She was a housewife and of the Pentecostal faith.

  Survivors include, two daughters, Deloris (Billy) Taylor and Judy (Frankie) Branham both of the Lone Star Ridge community; one son, Johnny (Linda) Dyer, Lone Star Ridge; one sister, Chris (Ricky) Morrison, Lone Star Ridge; one brother, Paul Thacker, Lone Star Ridge; 9 grandchildren, Daniel (Whitney) Piper, Randi Piper, Michael (Anna) Piper, Jonathan Piper, Jordan Branham Miranda Branham, Michelle (Sam) Adams, Sarah Dyer, and Matthew Dyer; 11 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

   Preceding her in death besides her parents, were her husband Johnny Ralph Dyer and one sister Shirley Sue (Charlie) Abney.

   Funeral services will be Friday, August 27, 2021, 11:00 A.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home with Brother Matthew Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 26, 2021, 3:00 -8:00 A.M. and on Friday, after 8:00 A.M. until time of services at 11:00.

JACKIE RAY FISH


 

 

   Jackie Ray Fish, age 68, of Summer Shade passed away Friday, August 20, 2021 at Baptist Floyd Hospital, New Albany, IN. Born November 27, 1952 in Beech Grove, IN, he was a son of the late Glyn Fish and Reba Geenett Estes Fish, who survives.

   He was a retired sewing machine mechanic and worked as a part time driver for Golden Years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, musician and farmer.

   Survivors besides his mother, include one daughter, Leslie (David) Sparks, Tompkinsville; one grandson, John Garrett Hammer, Summer Shade; and his companion of 31 years, Shirley Anderson.

   Funeral services will be Monday, August 23, 2021, 2:00 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Lewis Blythe officiating. Burial will follow in the White Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, August, 22, 2021, 1:00-6:00 P.M. and on Monday, August 23, 2021 after 8:00 A.M. until time of services at 2:00.

   In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the White Cemetery.

   Due to Covid-19 numbers rising in our area, the family has requested that all visitors wear a mask.

Robin Alan Bryan

 

 

   

   

   Robin Alan Bryan, age 69, of Summer Shade, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021 at T J Samson Hospital.

   Robin was born in Rantoul, IL to the late Robert Lee Bryan and Ruth Delight Braman Bryan.

   He was an Air Force veteran and of the Pentecostal faith.

   Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Peoples Bryan; two daughters Kristie Bryan and Cara Bryan and one son Kevin Bryan; three half sisters Karen Garvey, Kim De Couto and Kathy Librich; one brother Gary Bryan and one half brother Paul Gerber, two grandchildren Colton and Karson.

   In addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by one half brother Joe Liebman.

   Graveside funeral services will be Friday, August 20, 2021, 11:00 A.M. at Summer Shade Cemetery.

   McMurtrey Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Lance Wayne Holloway

 


Lance Wayne Holloway, age 61, of Darlington South Carolina passed away August 9, 2021 in South Carolina.

    Lance was born in Tompkinsville KY to the late Drexel and Ruth Roberts Holloway.

    Lance worked as a plant manager for Air Liqued who produces commercial gas.

    Lance is survived by five brothers, Terry Holloway of Lexington, Gaius Holloway of Summer Shade, Forrest Holloway of Tompkinsville, Derek (Janice) Holloway of Minnesota and Alan Holloway of Summer Shade as well as several nieces and nephews.        

    Other than his parents, he was preceeded in death by a sister-in-law Trudy Holloway.

     Funeral services will be Thursday August 19, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Mt. Gilead Church of Christ with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

   Visitation will be Thursday August 19, 2021 from 11:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. at the Mt Gilead Church of Christ.

    In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Mt. Gilead Cemetery and can be left with the funeral home.

Polly Shaw

 


    Polly Kay Ballard Shaw, age 71, of the Beaumont community passed away August 13, 2021 at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland in Somerset, KY.

     Polly was born in Glasgow, KY. to the late Rance Ballard Sr. and Delsie Ford Ballard.

    She was a machine operator in several local clothing manufacturing factories and was a member of the Marrowbone Baptist Church.

     She is survived by her husband of thirty seven years Ray Shaw of Beaumont, one son Todd (Nicole) Thurman of Edmonton and one granddaughter Megan Thurman.

   Other than her parents she was preceeded in death by one brother Rance Ballard Jr. and two sisters Patty Ann Ballard and Peggy Ballard.

     Funeral services will be Tuesday August 17, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with Brother Darrell Bartley officiating. Burial will follow in the Beaumont Cemetery.

     Visitation will be Monday August 16, 2021 from 3:00 P.M. till 8:00  and on August 17 from 8:00 A.M. till time for the funeral  at the McMurtrey Funeral Home

    In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Beaumont Cemetery and can be left at the funeral home.

Debra Fay Garrett Hawkins

 

   Debra Fay Garrett Hawkins, age 66, of Cookeville, TN. passed away August 8, 2021 at the Cookeville Medical Center.

    Debra was born in Glasgow, KY. on September 6, 1954 to the late Henry and Marjorie Hunley Garrett.

    She was a member of Union #2 Missionary Baptist Church and worked as a machine operator in Cookeville.

    Debra is survived by one brother, Barry Garrett of Glasgow and several nephews.

   

    Funeral services will be Wednesday August 11, 2021 at 12:00 noon at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Union # 2 cemetery.

    Visitation will be Wednesday August 11 from 10:00 A.M. till funeral time of noon.

    In lieu of flowers memorials are encouraged to help with funeral expenses and can be left at the McMurtrey Funeral Home.

Scotty Allen Bryant

 

     Scotty Allen Bryant, age 46 of Glasgow, passed away.

     Scotty was born December 13, 1974 in Glasgow Ky. to Rena Bryant Westmoreland and Danny Westmoreland.

      Scotty worked in the restaurant industry and was of the Christian faith.

      Scotty is survived by his wife Kathy Wilson Bryant; one son Trever (Aleisha) Bryant of Glasgow and a bonus son Landon McCandless; one sister Crystal Westmoreland of Michigan; four brothers TJ (Ashley) Westmoreland of Summer Shade, Nikki (Tiffany) Westmoreland of Glasgow, Dusty Westmoreland  of Summer Shade and one step brother Shannon (Kristian) Westmoreland of Glasgow.

       In addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by his grand parents Johnny Roscoe and Lucy Bushong Bryant.

       A memorial service will be held Saturday – August 7, 2021 – 2:00 P.M. at Branstetter Park with Willie Dale Westmoreland officiating. Visitation will follow the service until 6:00 P.M. at the park.

       A private burial will follow at a later date as cremation was chosen.
