Jesse (JD) Capps

 

 

   Jesse (JD) Capps, age 82, of Summer Shade, passed away July 30, 2021 at Monroe County Medical Center. Born February 10, 1939 in Finney, KY he was a son of the late Lizzzie Laura Melton and Willie (Bill) Capps.

   He was a salesman for Capps Associate, was a farmer, and preached at several churches. He attended and preached at Cumberland Presbyterian Church and he was a United States Army veteran.

   Survivors include two daughters, Tammy (Jimmy) Brown, Horse Cave and Tabatha (Stacy) Jones, Summer Shade;  seven grandchildren, Makayle (Lindsey) Goodman, Stephanie (Brandy) Polston, Tylor Capps, Charity (Heather) Smith, Jasmine (Kyle) Glascoe, Chase Raney, and Kaleb Edwards; 15 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; and best and honored friend, Gerry Dennison.

   Preceding him in death besides his parents, were his wife, Gail Huff Capps; one son, Travis Capps, and two brothers, Gilbert and George Capps.

   Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Lick Branch Church, with Brother Chad Hunt and Brother Paul Grider officiating. Burial will follow in the Lick Branch Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, August 2, 2021 at McMurtrey Funeral Home, 4:00-8:00 P.M and at Lick Branch Church after 10:00 A.M. until time of services at 1:00.

   Memorials may be made to the Lick Branch Cemetery.

Loretta (Nanny) Murley Dubree


  

      Loretta (Nanny) Murley Dubree, age 83, of Summer Shade, passed away Friday, July 30, 2021 at Hospice House of Bowling Green.

   Born September 23, 1937 in Burkesville KY she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Dollie Fletcher Murley and the widow of the late Bennie Dubree. She was a babysitter for 50 years and a member of the Marrowbone Church of Christ.

   Survivors include one son, Greg and his wife Myra Dubree, Summer Shade;  two sisters, Evelyn Ferguson, Summer Shade and Jamie Farley, Marrowbone; two grandchildren, Jordan (Peanut) and her husband Lee Harper, Edmonton, and Tyler and his wife, Maranda Dubree, Summer Shade; and four great-grandchildren, Jensen and Emmi Harper, Hudson and soon to be, Jameson Dubree.

   Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents was one son, Jeff Dubree; two brothers, Stanley and Herbert Murley and two sisters, Frances Janes, and Opal Harlan.

   Funeral services will be Monday, August 2, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home with Brother Willie Dale Westmoreland officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be August 1, 2021, 1:00 – 8:00:P.M and on Monday, after 8:00 A.M. until time of services at 1:00.

   Memorials may be made to Southern Kentucky Hospice House or the Summer Shade Fire Department and may be left at the funeral home

Susan Lyon Sandidge


  
Susan Lyon Sandidge, age 78, of Edmonton, KY passed away Thursday, July 22, 2021 at her residence. Born March 26, 1943 in Stoutland, MO, she was a daughter of the late Leonard and Zelpha Burke Lyon.

   She was retired from Sumitomo and was baptized at Pleasant Hill Church of Christ and attended South Edmonton Church of Christ.

   Survivors include her husband Welby (Pinkey) Sandidge; two daughters Lori Ann (Shane) Walton, Glasgow and Jan Sue Sandidge, Edmonton; one son Donald Lee (Francisca) Sandidge, Edmonton; six sisters, Mattie Edwards, Mary Veith, Sally Thorburg, Dee Lyon, Ruby Noe, and Esther Sherrer; and two grandchildren, Stephanie (Andrew) Gilpin and Allie Walton.

   Preceding her in death besides her parents, were three brothers, Burke, Campbell and Gene Lyon; and two sisters Betty Street and Floye Knapp.

   Graveside services will be Saturday, July 24, 2021, 12:00 noon at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, with Gary Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

   Memorials may be made to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation,

Janice Jennings


 

   Janice Christine Grissom Jennings, age 83, of Glasgow passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at NHC Health Care. Born November 2, 1937 in Edmonton, she was a daughter of the late Fidella Stephens and Gordon Morris Grissom and the wife of Billy Joe (Calhoun) Jennings, who survives. They were married 58 years.

   She had worked at Mallory’s and as a licensed practical nurse at T J Samson Hospital for 10 years. She loved genealogy and watching Wheel of Fortune.

   Survivors include two daughters, Karen Dowell, Glasgow and Julia Vaughan, Camden AR; one son, Timothy (Tammy) Joe Jennings, Glasgow; one half brother Howard Grissom; seven grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

   Preceding her in death besides her parents, one grandchild Vanessa Johnson, two sisters, Geneva Maurcine Grissom and Anna Mae Grissom; two half brothers, Junior and Samuel Phelps; and one son in law Robert Vaughn.

   Funeral services will be Friday, July 23, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home with Brother Roger Poynter officiating. Burial will follow in the Gee Harvey Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 22, 2021, 3:00-8:00 P.M. and on Friday, July 23, 2021 after 8:00 A.M. until time of services.

   In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Gee Harvey Cemetery.

Stanley Murley


 

   Stanley Simpson Murley, 87, of Summer Shade passed away Monday, July 19, 2021 at Signature Health Care of Monroe County.

   Stanley was born in Burkesville, Ky. on November 6, 1933 to the late Raymond Herbert and Dollie Rebecca (Fletcher) Murley.

    He was a farmer all his life and was of the Church of Christ faith.

    Stanley is survived by his wife of 68 years Virginia Short Murley; two daughters Pamela Arnett of Tompkinsville and Deloris Huff of Gamaliel; two grandchildren Cheri Brady of Springfield, TN and David Huff of Gamaliel; two great grandchildren Kalie Hill and Alyssa Brady and one great great grandchild Corbin Graves

     Stanley is also survived by three sisters, Loretta Dubree and Evelyn Ferguson of Summer Shade and Jamie Farlee of Marrowbone.

      Other than his parents he is preceded in death by son in laws Jaydean Huff and Steve Arnett; one brother Herbert Murley; two sisters Francis Janes and Opal Harlan and three brothers in laws Bennie Dubree, Kelsey Farlee and Rama Harlan.

      Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home with Brother Willie Dale Westmoreland officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery.

     Visitation will be Tuesday, July 20, 2021, 2:00 P.M. – 8: P.M. and on Wednesday July 21 from 8: A.M. till time of services at 1:00 P.M.

     In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Summer Shade Cemetery and can be left at the funeral home.

William (Billy) Albert Cook

 

 

   William (Billy) Albert Cook, age 77, of Edmonton, KY passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021 at his home. Born February 5, 1944, he was a son of the late Albert and Ruie McFarland Cook and the husband of 58 years of Sylvia McCoy Cook, who survives.

   He was a farmer, drove a gas truck for Ashland Oil and was of the Church of Christ faith. He was a veteran of the U S Army.

   Survivors other than his wife include, two sons Tracy (Beverly) Cook, Edmonton and Kelly Cook, Glasgow; two sisters, Betty Robertson, Edmonton and Gladys Hughes, Glasgow; two brothers, Donnie Cook, Hiseville and Jessie Cook of Bowling Green; 4 grandchildren, Daniell Elmore, Nicole Cook, Owen Kelby Cook, and Zackary Cook; and three great grand children.

   Preceding him in death besides his parents, were two brothers, Wesley and Bobby Cook; and one sister Joyce Nichols.

   Graveside funeral services will be Monday, July, 2021, 2:00 P.M. at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in the Randolph community of Metcalfe County. Brother Gary Richardson will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Glasgow Chapter of DAV.

   In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Jimmy Darrell Hurt Sr

 

 

   Jimmy Darrell Hurt, Sr. age 72, of Glasgow, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at his residence. Born June 10, 1949 in Burkesville, KY he was a son of the late Pauline Branham and Benton Hurt and the husband of the late Sue Ann Harper Hurt.

   He was retired from Suburban Propane and of the Church of Christ faith.

   Survivors include three sons, Jimmy Darrell (Martha) Hurt Jr, Glasgow, Farrell (James Clevesy) Hurt, Glasgow, and Timmie Daniel (Crystal) Hurt, Glasgow; one sister, Sue Cumbee, Summer Shade; two brothers, Cecil Joe Davis, Edmonton, and Billy (Ruth Ann) Hurt, Edmonton; grandchildren, John Curtis Hurt, Kevin Lee Shaw, Danny Joe Shaw, Timmie Hurt Jr, Brandon Hurt, Hunter Hurt, Beau Hurt, Jimmy Luke Hurt, Ali Sexton, Shana Hunt, and Isabella Hunt; and 13 great grandchildren.

   Preceding him in death besides his wife and parents were brothers, Jerry and Bobby Hurt.

   Funeral services will be Friday, July 9, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home with Brother Mark Park officiating. Burial will follow in the Lick Branch Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 8, 2021, 11:00 A.M. – 8:00 P.M. and after 8:00 A.M. on Friday, July 9 until time of services at 1:00.

   Memorials may be made to the Lick Branch Cemetery.

Richard Cornelius Preve

 

   Richard Cornelius Preve, age 87 of Edmonton, KY passed away June 29, 2021 at T J Samson hospital.

   Born in Penacook, New Hampshire he was a son of the late Joseph and Nina Young Preve. He worked as a manager of furniture stores and belonged to Grace Union Church.

   He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Ciceroni Preve, one daughter Gloria (Jimmy) Lowe of Edmonton: three sons, Ricky (Shirley) Preve of New Hampshire, Edward (Teresa) Preve of Georgia and Michael Jodoin of Florida; nine grandchildren Jeanine, Christopher, Samuel and James Preve, Rebekah (Nathan) Byrd, Jonathan (Lindsey) Lawhon, Michael Misko and Daniel and Brandon Colt Jodoin as well as several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

   In addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by three sisters and one brother.

   A memorial service will be held at a later date as cremation was chosen.

   McMurtrey Funeral Home is assisting the family.
