Harold Kenneth Ballard

 

Harold Kenneth Ballard, 60, of Tompkinsville, KY, formally from Willow Shade, KY, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville surrounded by his family.  He was born March 20, 1965, in Glasgow, KY the son of the late Kenneth and Rachel Huff Ballard.  Mr Ballard was a retired welder with Stephens Mfg. in Tompkinsville, KY.

Survivors include one brother, Bryan Ballard of Munfordville, KY: 4 sisters, Sharon Turner (Tim) of Beaumont, KY, Carol York, Sandy Moss (Greg) both of Edmonton, KY and April Syra (Lucas) of Tompkinsville, KY; along with several nieces and nephews also survive.

The family of Mr. Ballard has honored his wishes of cremation with no services at this time.  McMurtrey Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Kitty Sue Acree

 


Kitty Sue Acree, 90, of Edmonton, KY passed away Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Metcalfe Co. Health Care in Edmonton, KY with her loving family by her side. She was born in Edmonton, KY on May 26, 1935, to the late James Robert and Virgie Kate Frogge Compton. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Acree in 2020.

Mrs. Acree was a member of the Bellview Church of Christ, an avid reader and master gardner. She enjoyed studying plant and tree life, collecting antiques and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include two children Jill Harper (Dr. Robert Seay) of Edmonton, KY and Pete Acree (Ann) of Summer Shade, KY; eight grandchildren Susan Barton, Cameron Saltsman (Shelly), Anne George (Gary), Peter Saltsman (Rose), Jonathan Acree (Laura), Laurell Garrett (Daniel), Virginia Grace Acree, and Robert Evan Acree (Kirby); 21 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by seven siblings Mary Froedge, Henry Compton, Kathleen Clemmons, Pauline Hughes Hodges, Sybil Grace Compton, Mattie Lundy, and Howard Compton and two half siblings Florence Thompson and Marcum Compton.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Monday, July 7, 2025, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Edmonton Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 12:00-1:00pm at McMurtrey Funeral Home.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Metcalfe Health Care for their professional and caring service given to Mrs. Acree during her time there.

Edith Olene Anderson

Edith Olene Anderson, 97, of Louisville, KY passed away peacefully at Baptist Health Louisville June 16th, 2025. She was born September 15th, 1927, in Willow Shade, KY and preceded in death by her parents James Thomas and Dora E. Shaw Anderson. She was a member of Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, KY, and was baptized at 93 years of age.

She was a former long-time employee of Robert Hall Family Clothing store along with other retail outlets. She was the recipient of numerous customer service awards over the years. She was loved by fellow team and community members alike and was a staple of generosity, loyalty and grace within her local neighborhood. She was a graduate of Metcalfe County High School class of 1945.

She is lovingly survived by nephew James Kenneth Anderson, niece Cindy Gwyn Stotts, and nephew Johnny Wayne Anderson. She was the legal Guardian to all three. She is also lovingly survived by her nephew Kelly Lydell Anderson; niece Betty Jane Jaggers, niece Evelyn England, nephew Wilbard Lee Underwood, and niece Paula Kaye Misajon along will several great nieces, nephews, and extended family also survive.

Also preceding her in death were two brothers Kenneth Mack Anderson and James Phillip Anderson. One sister Veta Lavone Underwood.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM CST Friday, June 20, 2025, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial to follow in Harvey White Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday morning at 10:00AM CST and continue until the funeral hour at McMurtrey Funeral Home.
