James Harold Hoover

James Harold Hoover, age 82, of Glasgow,died Monday, Jan. 17, 2011 at the T J Samson Community Hospital.  He was a son of the late Harry Lee Hoover and Fidella Grissom Hoover Jessie.  He was retired  from the City of Edmonton and was a Veteran of the U S Army.
 He is survived by his wife, Wanda Robertson Hoover of Glasgow;  one daughter, Carolyn Conover of Glasgow.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 20 at 1:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with Bro Jeff Lile officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Jan. 19 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home.

TRAVIS C. (BALL) SHAW

Travis C, (Ball ) Shaw, age 81 of WillowShade, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011 at the T J Samson Community Hospital.  He was a retired farmer and son of the late Johnny and Rosa Vibbert Shaw. He was a member of the Willow Shade Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Reba Propes Shaw;  one son,Larry (Judy) Shaw of Willow Shade;  one grandson, Daniel Shaw of Willow Shade;  two great grandchildren, Roselyn Grace Shaw and Madelyn Faith Shaw.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Rena Belle Lester, Reba Hadley, Ruby Dubre and Donese Vibbert and one brother, Ben Harrison Shaw.
Funeral services will be Sunday, Jan. 16 at 2:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with Bro Gary Richardson officiating.  Burial will follow in the Beaumont Cemetery.
Visitation will begin Saturday, Jan. 15 at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home.

Verda Mae Bowles

Verda Mae Bowles, age 90 of the Eighty Eight Community,died Monday Jan 10, 2011 at home.She was a daughter of the late Will and Edna Matthews and wife of the late Raymond Bowles.  She was a member of the Union # 2 Baptist Church.
She is survived by one son, Michael R. Bowles of Eighty Eight;  two grandchildren, Trisha (John ) Shirley and Kynethia Bowles both of Greenwood,In: two great grandchildren, Brayden Ford and Peightyn Shirley: one sister, Dorothy Parker of Columbus, In.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Laverne Atnip and one brother, Carlos Matthews.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 15 at 1:00 PM at the Union # 2 Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will begin Friday, Jan.14 at 2:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home and after 11:00 AM at the Church.

Virginia Mildred (Waller ) Smith

Virginia Mildred (Waller) Smith, age 85 of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011 at the Sts.Mary & Elizabeth Hospital.
She was born in Center Point,Ky. to Elmer and Ova (Hammer ) Waller.
Mildred was a retired school teacher and a long time member of the Shively Church of Christ.
She is survived by her son, Terry (Margaret Anne)Smith of Louisv ille;  two grandsons, Shannon and Brian Smith;  two great grandsons, Shane and Chaz Smith and one sister, Louise Walker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Trumon Smith and two  brothers.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Sunday at the Willow Shade Church of Christ with burial to follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery.
Visitation willl be Friday from 2 to 8 PM at Owen Funeral Home at 5317 Dixie Highway and Saturday, Jan. 8 from 2 to 6 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home and after 1 PM Sunday at the church.

Rena Bryant Westmoreland

Rena Bryant Westmoreland, age 56 of Summer Shade, died Saturday, Jan 01, 2011 at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. She was a daughter of the late Roscoe and Lucy Mauldin Bryant and widow of the late Danny Westmoreland who passed away Nov. 6 2010.
She is survived by one daughter, Crystal Westmoreland of Summer Shade;  four sons, Scotty (Kathy )Bryant of Beaumont, Nikki Westmoreland, T.J. (Ashley ) Westmoreland and Dusty Westmoreland all of Summer Shade; grandchildren, Trevor Bryant and Landon Bryant McCandless, Brayden, Maylee and Taven Westmoreland; two sisters, Eunice (Jerry ) Nash and Irene (Mike) McCoy all of Glasgow;  brothers, Johnnie (Mary Lou) Bryant of Summer Shade, Isaac Bryant, Mike (Rita ) Bryant, Van (Sherry )Bryant all of Edmonton.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl Syra and Lois Bryant and one brother Bobby Bryant.
 Funeral services will be  Tuesday, Jan. 4 at 2:30 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with Bro Larry Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery.
Visitation will begin Monday, Jan.3, at 12:00 noon at the McMurtrey Funeral Home.
