PHYLLIS MADGE HUBBARD JONES

 

 

   Phyllis Madge Hubbard Jones, age 74, of Summer Shade, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021 at her residence. Born in Lebanon, KY, November 9, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Audrey Williams Hubbard. She was married 55 years to Walter W. Jones, who survives.

   She was a homemaker, a teacher and a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, and a loving mother and grandmother.

   Survivors other than her husband, include one daughter, Tina  (Titus) Awokuse, Michigan; one son David Keith (Theresa) Jones, Louisville; one sister, Paula  (Larry) Blakeman, Campbellsville; and seven grandchildren, Daniel, Joshua, and Sarah Awokuse and Zachary, Bradley, Valerie, and Cameron Jones.

   Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by one son, Samuel W. Jones.

   A walk through visitation will be Wednesday, April 28, 2021, 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 noon, central time. A private family funeral will be held, with burial to follow in the Gee Harvey Cemetery.

  Memorials may be made to the Gee Harvey Cemetery.

   Due to Covid regulations, face mask are required, social distancing encouraged and no food or drinks.

Douglas M Vanzant

    

   Douglas Maxie VanZant, age 62, of Summer Shade, KY passed away Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Greenview Hospital. He was born December 10, 1958, in Glasgow, a son of the late Maxie VanZant and Nell Cawthorn VanZant, who survives.

   He was a residential construction carpenter and of the Baptist faith.

   Survivors other than his mother, include one daughter, Nicki (Dustin) Anderson Sr, Louisville; one son, Daniel VanZant, Summer Shade; three sisters, Linda Muse, Glasgow, Jan Welsh, St Jacobs, IL, and Susan (Thomas) Smith, Summer Shade; five grandchildren Dustin Anderson Jr, Andrew Anderson, Nevaeh VanZant, Channing VanZant and Violet VanZant; very special friend, Betty Jones; and several nieces and nephews.

   Other than his father, he is preceded in death by a son, Jeremy VanZant.

   A walk through visitation will be Thursday, April 29, 2021, 10:00 A.M.-2:00 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home.  A private family funeral service will be Thursday, April, 29, 2021 -2:00 P.M., with burial in the Summer Shade Cemetery.

   In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Summer Shade Fire Department.

   Due to Covid regulations a mask is required, social distancing encouraged, and no food or drinks.

Ruth E Hodges Edwards Fergerson

 

Ruth Elizabeth Hodges Edwards Fergerson, 84, of Edmonton passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Metcalfe Health Care Center.

   Born November 14, 1936 in Summer Shade, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Elsie Branstetter Hodges.

   She was a homemaker and a member of the Hickory College Church of Christ.

   Survivors include  daughters, Lacy (Grayland) Lloyd, Bowling Green, Gloria (Bruce) Sullivan, Summer Shade and Vickie Stephens, Edmonton;  sons, Trent Fergerson, Nashville, TN and Jerry (Cindy) Fergerson, Bowling Green;  sister, Rose Garrett, Glasgow;  brothers, Loyd Hodges, Dalton (Linda) Hodges, and Roger (Darlene) Hodges, all of Summer Shade;  grandchildren, Jeremy Fergerson, Josh Fergerson, Clay Fergerson, Ava Fergerson, Matthew Stephens, Megan Stephens Hunn, Mary Lazaro, Emily Buren, David Sullivan, Michael Sullivan, Therese Sullivan, April Lloyd Westray, Seth Lloyd and Caleb Lloyd; and twelve great grandchildren.

   Preceding her in death besides her parents, were her husbands, Lenville Edwards and Mitchell Fergerson; sister, Bonnie Kesslar; and a great grandchild.

   Funeral services will be Sunday, April 18, 2021, 2:00 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade, KY with burial to follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Monroe County. A walk through visitation will be Saturday, April 17, 2021, 2:00-8:00 P.M. and on Sunday, April 18, 2021 after 8:00 A.M. until time of services at 2:00.

Tanya Micha Pennington Smith

 

   Tanya Micha Pennington Smith, age 46, of Glasgow passed away Sunday April 4, 2021, at the Medical Center of Bowling Green.

    She was born in Glasgow, Ky. to the late Radford Neal Pennington and Joyce Chumbly (Daniel) Troxall who survives. She was a housekeeping supervisor in the hospitality industry.

     In addition to her mother, she is survived by three sons, Bryan (Savannah) Smith of Edmonton, Brandon (Alison) Smith of Glasgow and Blake (Hollie) Smith of Oakland;  five grandchildren Axle, Chevelle, Allie, Kane and Kambree Smith. She is also survived by  two sisters Crystal (Donnie) Gearlds of Edmonton and Makyla Pennington of Glasgow; and one brother Dakota Pennington of Glasgow, the father of her children Danny Smith and step mother in law Tana Pennington.

     A walk through visitation will be held Wednesday April 7, 2021 from 10:00 am till 2:00 pm at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with a private immediate family funeral to follow with limited seating. Burial will follow in the Noble Cemetery.

     Face masks are required, no food or drinks are allowed in the funeral home and social distancing must be practiced.

      In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses

Roger Dale Miller

 

 

 

   Roger Dale Miller, age 68, of Summer Shade, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2021 at his residence.

   Born September 12, 1952 in Louisville, KY he was a son of the late Sylvester and Catherine Robinson Miller. He was the husband of Elizabeth Craig Miller, who survives and they were married for 47 years.

   He worked on an assembly line at General Electric for 37 years and was of the Catholic faith.

   Survivors, other than his wife, include sons, Jeremy (Kim) Crump, Summer Shade, Kevin (Amy) Crump , Glasgow and Chris Miller, Summer Shade; sisters, Annette Kunce, Glasgow and Nancy Miller, LaGrange; brothers Pete Miller, Glasgow and Tony Miller, Summer Shade; grandchildren Justin Crump, Molly McLean, Jonathan Miller, Ashton Miller and Christopher Miller; and great grandchildren, Jace Crump, Jaxon Crump, and Allisa Lause.

  Preceding him death besides his parents, were brothers Billy Miller, and Clinton Miller, and sister Gennie Bargle

   Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

   McMurtrey Funeral Home is assisting the family.
