Versie Mosier

Versie Lee Russell Mosier, age 87, of Marietta, GA, formerly of Summer Shade, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022 in Marietta, GA. Born September 9, 1934 in Tompkinsville, KY she was a daughter of the late Dudley and Mazie Hale Russell, and the widow of the late William Boyd Mosier.

Versie was a member of Summer Shade Homemaker’s Club and when her daughters were young she was an active 4-H mom. She enjoyed square dancing and attending the Nobob Sportsman Club.

She was a member of Goodson Chapel Methodist Church where she loved to sing and praise God with her church family. On Sundays after church the family enjoyed fun and games at “The Barn” along with Boyd’s famous barbecue.

For many years she worked at Summer Shade Elementary School and every child who came through the lunch line could always count on a big smile and a kind word from her. She radiated joy and love from the moment she was born until the moment she went home to heaven.

Of all the things Versie loved in this life there was nothing she loved more than her family, Boyd and her daughters, Pamela Kaye Sayne and husband Bill, Teresa Faye Perez and her husband Ray, Kimberly Gaye Kiser and her husband Bruce, and Tamara Renee Yarbrough and her husband Jimmy, all of Georgia; her grandchildren, Tyler Sayne, Tanner Sayne, Penelope Yarbrough, and Isabelle Kiser. She is also survived by two sisters, Bonnie Peacock and Wilma Kay Shimer; and two brothers, Willie Junior Russell, and Billy Wayne Abney.

Even when Versie could no longer remember your name she could still remember the hymns she sang at church, especially “I just came to talk to you, Lord.” Versies’s family and friends will miss her but they know she is resting easy and finally able to have that talk with the Lord that she loved to sing about.
