Lucinda Sue Polen

 


Lucinda Sue Polen, 63, of Tompkinsville KY, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Signature Healthcare of Monroe. She was born on September 7, 1962, to the late Elmer and Shirley Schurr Muse.

Lucinda enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and always putting a smile on people’s faces.

Survivors include her children, Raymond Pierce (Rocky) of Glasgow, Amanda Polen of IN; granddaughter, Jaylen Polen of IN; sisters, Cathy Pruitt (Chris) of Tompkinsville, Barbara Craft of Glasgow; brother, Terry Muse (Nikki) of IN; stepsister, Pam Ready (Bill); and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sisters, Stephanie Thompson, Letha Ridge; brother, Steven Warren; great nephews, Philip Stout, Bryson Pickerell, Evan Warren; and brother-in-law, Jerry Craft.

Funeral services will be 11:00AM Friday, February 27, 2026, at McMurtrey Funeral Home, with burial in the Basil-Wilson Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday morning at 9:00AM and go until time for service at 11:00AM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.

Gary Wayne Vibbert

 


Gary Wayne Vibbert, 70, of Edmonton KY, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026, at TJ Samson Community Hospital. He was born on October 3, 1955, to the late James (Todd) and Louise Hope Vibbert.

Gary enjoyed watching Nascar racing, his favorite was Dale Earhart. He also enjoyed UK Basketball, NY Yankees, tinkering with furniture, appliances, and anything that was in front of him. He was a very logical thinker, technology inclined. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Tabitha Hunt Vibbert; children, Alex Vibbert (Heather) of Bowling Green, Zack Sturgeon (Melissa) of Glasgow, Sabrina Rowlett (Nathan) of Edmonton, and Krystal Sturgeon of Edmonton; grandchildren, Kaylee Rowlett, Kayden Rowlett, and Hailey Vibbert; siblings, Bobby Vibbert of Summer Shade, Marcella Rich of Glasgow, Elaine Mattingly of Lexington, and Ellen Jacobson of Bernina Beach FL; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Jimmy and John Vibbert.

Visitation will begin at 10:00AM and go until 12:00PM at McMurtrey Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. There will be a private graveside held at a later time.

Paula Jean Jaworski


 

Paula Jean Jaworski, 72, of Eighty-Eight KY, passed away, Sunday February 15, 2026, at Barren County Health and Rehabilitation in Glasgow. She was born in Shelbyville KY, on December 7, 1953, to the late Warren and Marth Pauline Burgin West.

Survivors include, her husband, Paul Jaworski; children, Gary Murphy and Donald Turpin; grandchildren, Michael Murphy and Misty Murphy; great grandchildren, Aslynn Higdon and Ainzlie Stewart; siblings, Brenice Wayne, Dorothy Strange, and Cheryl Smith.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Ray West.

The family has chosen cremation and there are no services scheduled at this time.

Gregory Edward Wood

 


Gregory Edward Wood, 52, of Summer Shade, KY, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at his residence. He was born in Glasgow KY on May 25, 1973, to the late Dianne Smith Wood.

Mr. Wood enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding horses.

Survivors include his brothers, Tim Strode and David Gibbons (Terri); niece, Macie Strode; nephews, Trae, and Kyle (Amber); great nieces & nephews, Kloe, Xander, and Lenaya; aunts, Bobby Smith and Jean Franks; good friend, Don Gordon; and several cousins.

In addition to his mother he is preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.

In honoring Gregory’s wishes, the family has chosen cremation and there are no services scheduled at this time.

Gary Allan Cole

 


Gary Allan Cole, 76, of Summer Shade KY, passed away, Monday, February 9, 2026, at his residence. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on March 4, 1949, to the late George Ralph and Rozelle Montgomery Cole.

Mr. Cole enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, friends, and his beloved dog, May.

Survivors include his daughter, Leslie Johnson (Seth) of Mount Juliet, TN; siblings, Sue Gibbons (Philip) of Cookeville, TN, Dale Cole (Gail) of Cookeville, TN; stepchildren, Amy Wilk of KY, Cheyanna Stevenson of FL, Peter Ruiz of CA, Josh Ruiz of CA; grandchildren, Gabriel Wilson, Ciera Heath of KY, Sean Wilk of KY; great granddaughter, Olivia Heath; 8 grand and great grandchildren; step grandchildren, Sarah Johnson and Paige Johnson.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Candy Walton Cole.

In honoring Gary’s wishes, the family has chosen cremation and there are no services scheduled at this time.

Betty S. Dozard


 Betty S. Dozard, age 86 of Summer Shade, Kentucky, formerly of Russellville, Alabama and Peoria, Illinois, passed away Thursday February 5. 2026 at Signature Healthcare in Glasgow, Kentucky under Hospice care.

 She was born July 14, 1939, in Russellville, Alabama to Otis B. and Jessie (Jones) Hawkins. She married William G. Dozard on April 20, 1957 in Peoria, Illinois. He passed away on February 18, 2024. She was also Preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Harold and Otis Hawkins, and two sisters: Dorothy Casey and Mary Ford.

 Survivors include two daughters and two sons: Kathi (Tim) Steele and Vicky (Ed) Winter, both of Summer Shade, Kentucky and Ron (Crystal) Dozard of Cuba, Illinois and Steven Dozard of Peoria, Illinois; eleven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 Betty was an avid quilter and a member of Piecemakers Quilt Guild of Edmonton, Kentucky, Quilting Friends and Stitching Friends, both of Glasgow, Kentucky. She was active in the Barren County Extension Homemaker Association.

 She had a great love of animals. Memorials may be made to Barren River Animal Welfare Association (BRAWA).

Bobby Junior Crews

 


Bobby Junior Crews, 81, of Tompkinsville KY, passed away Monday, February 2, 2026, at TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, KY. He was born in Tompkinsville KY on August 15, 1944, to the late Troy and Edith Speakman Crews. Mr. Crews enjoyed fishing, spending time with friends and family, and UK basketball.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Crews of Tompkinsville, KY; children, Bobby Crews (Glenda), of Summer Shade, KY, Vicki Maggard (Tony Grant) of Columbia, KY,  James Crews (Brandy) of Bowling Green, KY, Bobby Dale Crews of Russell Springs, KY, Cynthia McCarter of Adolphus, KY, Robbie Gentry of Summer Shade, KY; siblings, Parker Crews of Cave City, KY, Tommy Crews of Austin Tracey, KY, Mary Emberton of Tompkinsville, KY, Katherine Dubree of Tompkinsville, KY; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Franklin Tooley.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Steve Crews and his grandson, Jacob Allen Crews.

Funeral services will be 2:00PM Saturday, February 7, 2026, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Brown Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 6, 2026, at the funeral home from 4:00M until 8:00PM and again on Saturday morning starting at 8:00AM until time for the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Lung Association.

Judy Hagan

 

Judy Lynn Muse Hagan, 61, Tompkinsville, KY, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Signature of Monroe. She was born on February 21, 1964, in Tompkinsville, KY, to the late Ray Gass and Zella Muse. She was a member of Berea Church of Christ and the Oaks of Glasgow. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include one son Brian Walker of Tompkinsville, KY; three grandchildren Dylan, Bricen and Abel; three great granddaughters; two sisters Sharon Kay Muse of Glasgow, KY, and Patricia Ann Turner of Tompkinsville, KY; several neices and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother Ricky Gass and one sister Angela Gass.

Graveside service will be 1:00PM Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Basil-Wilson Cemetery in Tompkinsville, KY.

Charles Massey, Jr.



Charles Massey, Jr. age, 65, of the Nobob community of Barren County, KY, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026, at Tri-Star Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Charles was born January 2nd, 1961, in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Charles Albert Massey, Sr. and Patricia Kerbe.

 Charles was a member of the FOP Lodge #4, Police Emerald Society of Baltimore and the Police Benevolent Association. He was a retired Baltimore County police officer and was previously employed by the Monroe and Metcalfe County Sheriff’s departments.

 Survivors include two sons Charles Albert Massey III and Jack Massey; two daughters Kathryn Massey and Amelia Massey; one brother Michael Massey; nieces Victoria Castro and Amaya Massey; fiancĂ© Michele Appler.

  In keeping with Charles’ wishes, cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, February 16, 2026, at McMurtrey Funeral Home, 2232 Summer Shade Rd. Summer Shade, KY 42166. Visitation will begin at 12:00PM Monday, prior to the memorial service at the funeral home. All times are central standard time.

Dorothy Smithson

 



Dorothy Smithson, 79, of Edmonton, KY, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026, at her residence. She was born in Maple Shade, New Jersey, on October 2
nd, 1946, to the late Lee and Dorothy Purkus.

 Dorothy loved old-time country music and had a great love for playing the guitar.

 Survivors include two daughters, Tracey Irwin Pope (Bobby Hurt) and Tabatha Hall; one son Tommy Irwin; five sisters Carole Grossman, Susan Cote, Cindy Campbell, Debbie Jones and Barbi Britton; One brother Ricky Britton.

 In keeping with Dorothy’s wishes cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held at a late date.

Betty Jean Jenkins

 


Betty Jean Jenkins, 64, of Glasgow, KY passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at her residence. She was born on April 27, 1961, in Tompkinsville, KY to the late Bemis and Mamie Irene Lynn Rhoton. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Eugene “Bobby” Jenkins.

Mrs. Jenkins enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren, and she also enjoyed watching TLC and cooking shows.

Survivors include three children Angela Smith (Fiancé Bobby Perkins) of Evarts, KY, Bobbi Marlowe (Ken) of Glasgow, KY and Steven Murley of Celina, TN; twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two brothers Junior Glendale Rhoton of Wabash, IN and Willie Randall Rhoton (Gretta Faye) of Summer Shade, KY and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son Dustin Eugene Jenkins, and eight siblings Doris Stanley, Kenneth, Ronnie and Annie Lou Rhoton, Dorothy York, Connie Britt, and Peggy Broner.

Funeral services will be at 1:00pm on Friday, January 23, 2026, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Union Hill Cemetery in Tennessee. Visitation will be after 10:00am on Friday at McMurtrey Funeral Home.

Jessie Lee McIntyre

 


Jessie Lee McIntyre, 88, of Summer Shade, KY, passed away Sunday, January 18, 2026, at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville, KY. He was born in Cumberland County, KY on September 12, 1937, to the late Zeak and Edith Jones McIntyre. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Mamie Birge McIntyre.

Mr. McIntyre was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed farming, gardening, rabbit hunting and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his daughter Bonita Poore (Jason) of Summer Shade, KY, five siblings Peggie McCoy, Freda Reece, Bonnie Shaw, Linda Moore (David) and Fairlee McIntyre (Linda) and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a son Barry McIntyre, a sister Dimple Francis and a brother Ronnie McIntyre.

Funeral services will be 11:00am Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the White Cemetery Chapel. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00-8:00pm and on Wednesday from 8:00-10:00am at McMurtrey Funeral Home.

Bro. Billy Neal Davis will be officiating, and pallbearers will be Gary McIntyre, Kenny McIntyre, Timmy Francis, Tony Francis, Matthew Thrasher, Nicky Tooley, and Chad Birge.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the White Cemetery of the Summer Shade Fire Department.

Clara Belle Dyer Combs

Clara Belle Combs, 103, of Shelbyville, KY and formerly of Tompkinsville, KY passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Maple Grove Senior Living in Shelbyville, KY. She was born on June 20, 1922 in Vernon, KY to the late Bob and Dora Anderson Dyer. She was also preceded in death by her husband Floyd Miller Combs.

Mrs. Combs was a member of the Rock Valley Church of Christ and was a master quilt maker and seamstress. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include a daughter Edith “Edie Combs Huddleston (David) of Lexington, KY; four grandchildren Jason Combs, Molly Combs Mitchell (Robert), Sean Huddleston and Heather Huddleston Jemley (Frank); six great grandchildren Luke, Hannah, Sam and Alexander Jemley, Clara Huddleston and Taylor Adams (Jaelin); two great great grandchildren Nolan and Ellie Adams; a sister Virginia Sprowl of Tompkinsville, KY and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son Eugene Miller Combs, and seven siblings Gladys Cook, Addie Crabtree, Mack Dyer, Inez Emmert, KathrynJackson, Margaret Sprowl and Betty Lane.

A celebration of life service will be held at Rock Valley Church of Christ at 2549 Capp Harlan Rd. Tompkinsville, KY with Bro. Jason Thompson officiating.

A private burial will be in the Monroe County Memorial Lawn.

Robert "Dale" Moore

 


Robert Dale Moore, age 84, of Tompkinsville, KY, passed away Friday, January 9, 2026, at his daughters’ home. He was born in Fisher, IL, on May 23, 1941, to the late Ernest and Cloteel Bybee Moore.

Dale drove a truck for ABF for 37 years. He and his wife were founders of Bluegrass Squares and Taps and a Veteran of the National Guard. After retirement he enjoyed farming with his grandson, being with all his grandchildren, and playing pitch.

Survivors include, one daughter, Glenda Lyon (Steven) of Tompkinsville, KY; grandsons, Steven Dale Lyon (Katie) of Tompkinsville, KY, and Michael Trent Lyon of Edgewood, WA; great grandchildren, Sawyer Lyon, Lyndon Lyon, Ariya Lyon, Kiera Lyon, and Rylee Lyon; siblings, Sue Copas of Louisville, KY, Patricia Jarvis (Kenny) of Louisville, KY, Larry Moore (Sandy) of Tompkinsville, KY, and Donald Moore (Mary) of Alexandria, KY; special friend, Betty Spears; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Birge Moore; brother, Loyd Moore; and the mother of his daughter, Allene Smith Moore.  

Funeral services will be 11:00am Monday, January 12, 2026, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Visitation will be Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 2:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home and Monday morning from 8:00am until time for the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Hosparus Health Barren River or Stateline Christian Church Camp.
