Duane Morris York

Duane Morris York, 59, of Tompkinsville KY, passed away, Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Signature Healthcare of Monroe County Rehab and Wellness Center. He was born on February 10, 1966, to the late Edwin Morris and Runnell Rhoton York.

He is survived by his wife, Faye York; children, Danny Joe Stinson, Andrea Stinson, Julie White, Dylan York, Josh York, and Cheryl Lankford all of Tompkinsville; 8 grandchildren; and sister, Melinda Oaks (Ronnie).

He is preceded in death by his two sisters, Mary Childress and Patricia Cathart.

Funeral services will be 1:00pm Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Yokley Cemetery in Tompkinsville. Visitation will begin at 11:00am on Wednesday morning and continue until time for service.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to McMurtrey Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.

Barbara Sue Shaw

 


Barbara Sue Shaw, 79, of Summer Shade, KY, passed away Monday, July 21, 2025, at her residence surrounded by family. Barbara was born on December 18, 1945, in Burkesville, to the late Floyd and Gladys White Thacker.

Barbara enjoyed canning, working in her garden, babysitting, and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Shaw; sister, Joan Long; and her brother, Keith Thacker.

She is survived by her children, Tommy Humphery, Penny Vibbert (Johnny), Jennifer Gassaway (Anthony), and Amanda Milam (Boonie); grandchildren, Jesse Hurt (Katie), Brandon Hawkins (Lauren), Tyler Humphery (Savannah), William Hawkins (Shanielle), Chloe Graves, Nathan Vibbert (Katelyn), Jacob Vibbert (Ava), Shea Milam, and Marlee Milam; several great grandchildren; siblings, Jimmy White, Roger Thacker, Elvis Thacker, Floyd Junior Thacker, Wanda Baker, and Martha Ruffner; her significant other, James Governor York; and a special caregiver, Paula Dubree.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 1:00pm at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, starting at 4:00pm lasting until 8:00pm and will continue Thursday morning at 8:00am until time for the service at the funeral home.

Douglas "Doug" Rex DeWeese

 


Douglas (Doug) Rex DeWeese, 45, of Lexington, KY, formally of Summer Shade, KY, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at his parents’ home in Summer Shade, surrounded by his family and friends. Doug was born on July 3, 1980, in Glasgow, KY, to Wendell and Mariea DeWeese, who survive. Doug is also survived by his sister, Keana Morgan (Mike), and brother Alan DeWeese (Morgan), all of Edmonton, KY, and brother Jordan DeWeese (Sarah Sams) of Elizabethtown, KY. Nieces, Allie Jo Nunnally (Hunter), Kyndal DeWeese (Taylor Thurmond), and Finlee Deweese, all of Edmonton, KY, and Great Nephew, Colt Nunnally, of Edmonton, KY. Doug is also survived by his beloved dog, Rex, and an exceptional group of lifelong friends.

Doug was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Joe and Rosie DeWeese and maternal grandparents, Rex and Evelyn Edwards.

Doug was an avid sports fan, especially UK basketball, he loves music, books, movies, and going to concerts with friends. He was a long-time employee of Rafferty’s, Inc.

Visitation for Doug will begin Friday, July 18, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at McMurtrey Funeral Home, in Summer Shade, KY. Visitation will continue at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Hickory College Church of Christ with funeral service being at 1:00 p.m. with burial at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, in Randolph, KY (Metcalfe County).

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Doug’s name to the Joubert Syndrome Foundation in honor of Harper Borders, who he adored. Donations can be made online at www.jsrdf.org.
