Edith Olene Anderson

Edith Olene Anderson, 97, of Louisville, KY passed away peacefully at Baptist Health Louisville June 16th, 2025. She was born September 15th, 1927, in Willow Shade, KY and preceded in death by her parents James Thomas and Dora E. Shaw Anderson. She was a member of Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, KY, and was baptized at 93 years of age.

She was a former long-time employee of Robert Hall Family Clothing store along with other retail outlets. She was the recipient of numerous customer service awards over the years. She was loved by fellow team and community members alike and was a staple of generosity, loyalty and grace within her local neighborhood. She was a graduate of Metcalfe County High School class of 1945.

She is lovingly survived by nephew James Kenneth Anderson, niece Cindy Gwyn Stotts, and nephew Johnny Wayne Anderson. She was the legal Guardian to all three. She is also lovingly survived by her nephew Kelly Lydell Anderson; niece Betty Jane Jaggers, niece Evelyn England, nephew Wilbard Lee Underwood, and niece Paula Kaye Misajon along will several great nieces, nephews, and extended family also survive.

Also preceding her in death were two brothers Kenneth Mack Anderson and James Phillip Anderson. One sister Veta Lavone Underwood.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM CST Friday, June 20, 2025, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial to follow in Harvey White Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Friday morning at 10:00AM CST and continue until the funeral hour at McMurtrey Funeral Home.

Edward "Eddie" Harold Smith

 


Edward “Eddie” Harold Smith, age 67, of Beaumont KY, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at TJ Samson Community Hospital. He was born on October 3, 1957, in Glasgow KY, to the late Sammy and Carol Smith. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by several aunts and uncles.

Eddie was a member of the Willow Shade Church of Christ and a volunteer firefighter for the Summer Shade Fire Department. He was a lifelong farmer.

Survivors include his aunts, Barbara Pierce, Doris Smith, and Jean Franks; his stepdaughter, Tara Tillberry; and a host of many cousins.

There will be a graveside service held at the Summer Shade Cemetery on June 21, 2025, at 4:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Summer Shade Fire Department.

McMurtrey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Judy Mae Groce

 

           

Judy Mae Groce, 78, of Beaumont, KY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at the Shanti Niketan Hospice House in Glasgow, KY. She was born in Cumberland County on June 28, 1946, to the late John Curtis and Mary Aileen Logan Scott. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by one brother Junior Curtis Scott.

 Mrs. Groce was a member of Goodson Chapel Church. She was formerly employed with Sumitomo where she later retired. Judy enjoyed her flowers, cooking, gardening and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandchild.

 Survivors include her husband of sixty-three years, Glen “Preston” Groce; One daughter Connie Humes (Kenny) of Summer Shade; Two grandchildren Casey Humes Brown (Brian) of London, KY, and Kaleb Humes of Summer Shade; One great grandchild Hadley Humes of Summer Shade. Special sister Ruthie Jessie of Edmonton; One aunt and several cousins also survive.

 Funeral services will be 11:30AM Friday, June 13, 2025, at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Perkins Cemetery in Cumberland County. Visitation will be on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 5:00PM-8:00PM and will continue Friday morning after 8:00AM until time of the service at McMurtrey Funeral Home.
