Beverly Jean Walker




Beverly Jean Walker, 68 of Summer Shade passed away September 29,2023 at home surrounded by her family. Born February 18, 1955 in Chicago Illinois to the late Lawrence Barnes and Emma Jean Williams. She attended Seven Springs Church in Node.

She is survived by three children Lisa (Brian) Woodcock of Glasgow, Samantha (Timothy) Ziegler of Summer Shade and Dennis (Brookie) Walker of Summer Shade. Nine grandchildren Weston Walker, Blaine Walker, Kimberly Kinnaird, Brittany Smith, Timothy Ziegler, Willie Melton III, Heather Melton, Adalynn Melton, and MaKaylei Melton. Five great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and one brother Billy Buckley of Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ronnie Lee Walker and lifelong companion Doug McCoy. Brother Joe Dugard.

Visitation will be held Monday October 2, 2023 from 3:00 till 8:00 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home with visitation to follow on Tuesday October 3, 2023 from 8:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. here at the funeral home with services being held at White Cemetery Chapel at 1:00 P.M. with burial to follow at the White Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude.

Dorothy Davis Glass


 Dorothy Davis Glass, 92, of Edmonton, KY passed away peacefully Sunday, September 24, 2023, at her home. She was born in Barren County on September 18, 1931, to the late Samuel Davis and Euna Elizabeth Houchens Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband John William Glass.

Mrs. Glass was a devoted wife, loving mother and special “Mema” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of the Lick Branch Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include four children Mike Glass (Rhonda), Tim Glass (Connie), and Janet Glass Reed (Danny) all of Edmonton, KY and Denise Glass Fudge (Mark) of Columbia, KY; eight grandchildren Jason Glass (Stephenie), Kara Morgan (John Michael), Ashley Firkins (Nick), Brittany Reed (Justin Graves), Aaron Glass (Heather), Rachel Wilson (Codi), Nickolas Fudge (Natalie), and Matthew Fudge (Preslee); sixteen great grandchildren; a special relative Runell Clemmons (Doug); a sister Virginia Wells of Glasgow, Ky and several nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Linda Glass, six sisters Ida Mae Smith, Sadie Jackman, Levie Kinslow, Mattie Matthews, Bertha Davis, and Grace Roby, and one brother Samuel D. Davis.

Visitation will be on Friday from 11:00am-1:00pm at McMurtrey Funeral Home with a private service held later with burial in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Randolph.

McMurtrey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Sothern Kentucky Hosparus or Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

Timothy Sparks




 

Timothy Reid Sparks, a resident of Edmonton was born May 23,1955 in Metcalfe County to the late Glen Reid and Pauline Christie Sparks. Tim departed this life Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the age of 68.

Tim was a 1973 graduate of Metcalfe County High School and retired from the Department of Transportation as road supervisor. Tim enjoyed retirement and being home with his wife Charlotte Anderson Sparks whom he married January 7, 1977. Tim was a loyal UK fan and followed them religiously. He also enjoyed NASCAR and politics. Tim was a dedicated democrat and never missed the opportunity to drive the roads and visit people to campaign. He was looking forward to the upcoming Governor's race. Even with all this Tim will be remembered as a man who gave his all to help his friends and neighbors. Although he had no biological children Tim and Charlotte never failed to step up to the plate to help young people who had come into their lives. Not only young people but all their family and friends. Tim was a member of the Edmonton Methodist Church.

Besides his wife Tim is survived by a special brother-in-law Tommy Anderson who resided with them. Brother-in-law Calvin Anderson. Special cousins and sister-in-law, Sandra and Timmy Allbright. Cousins Herb (Jan) Sparks, Lee Sparks, Jenny Thomas, Betty, Pat Lee, Diane, and Sandra. Tim is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Tim will be held 1:00 PM, Wednesday at McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade with burial in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday after 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Summer Shade Cemetery.

Exie Mae Harris Vance






Exie Mae Lollar Harris Vance, age 83 of Summer Shade passed away peacefully September 13,2023. She was surrounded by love and prayers from all her family and loved ones at her daughter Sandra and family’s home. Exie Mae was welcomed to the world by her loving parents on December 23,1939 to Sammie and Mable Odell Humes Lollar. Exie was the oldest of her nine siblings, whom she loved dearly. She wed her first husband, Jack Albert Harris in 1958 and they made their happy home in Summer Shade, KY. Jack and Exie welcomed two adored children into the world Jeff (Bobbie) Harris of Glasgow and Sandra (Paul) Emberton of Lucas. Exie began working at a young age providing care for the elderly in their homes. She became a very talented seamstress for many years in nearby factories, she also became a district manager for Tupperware, and before retiring she worked at Walmart in Tompkinsville. With all these jobs she never met a stranger and felt so blessed to remain to have lifelong friendships with all those she had met. Yet the best job she ever had was yet to come, as she began babysitting children in the community, something she cherished. Exie was a member of Hagan's Grove Baptist Church.

 

Jack and Exie had a beautiful life until his passing in 1992. Years later, Exie wed a lifelong friend Veachel Vance in 1997, through this marriage she gained another beloved daughter Marcia (Lester) Thompson. Outside of gardening, shopping, and traveling, Exie enjoyed being a grandmother. Exie was the proud and loving grandmother to Kelli (Joey) Norman of Glasgow, MaLora (Michael) Woods of Gamaliel, Kara Harris of Glasgow, Logan, Landon, and Aleigha Emberton of Lucas, as well as a great grandmother to Harper and Ava Dickson. Through Exie’s marriage to Veachel, she gained a grandson CJ (Melinda) Bush of Glasgow and two great grandchildren Madelyn and Grayson. She also had several nieces and nephews that held a special place in her heart.

 

Along with her children and grandchildren, she is survived by her brothers Mitchell (Wanda) of Summer Shade, Ricky (Joyce) of Glasgow, and Chris (Cindy) of Edmonton, her sisters Barbie (Jackie) Crowe of Summer Shade, and Donna (Tom) of Celina. In addition to her parents and husbands, she is preceded in death by her brothers William and Baby Boy Lollar, two sisters Linda Arnett and RaChele Cross.

 

Exie’s celebration of life will be held at McMurtrey Funeral Home on September 15,2023 from 4:00PM to 8:00 P.M., with visitation to follow on Saturday September 16,2023 at 10:00 A.M. till 2:30 here at the funeral home with funeral services being held at White Cemetery Chapel at 3:00 P.M. with burial to follow in the White Cemetery.

Tonya Rena Scott

 

Tonya Rena Scott, 46, of Glasgow, KY died Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at Jewish Hospital IN Louisville, KY.  Born November 13, 1976 in Tompkinsville, KY the daughter of the the late Ronnie Vinson and Patsy Raney Vinson of Glasgow, KY who survives. 

 

In addition to her mother survivors include her husband James Scott of Glasgow;  1 daughter Michaela Scott; 1 son Kerry Scott both of Glasgow; 1 step-daughter Kim Scott and 1 step- son Dylan Huff;  2 brothers Timmy Vinson (Sam) of Glasgow, Wayne Vinson (Marilee) of Tompkinsville, KY; 2 grandchildren along with several aunts and uncles also survive.

 

In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her first husband Michael Scott.

 

Graveside service will be held 1PM Monday, September 11, 2023 at the Harlan Cross-Roads Cemetery in Monroe County.   Visitation will be Monday, from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home.
