Betty Colleen Smith Proffitt Copas


 

 Betty Colleen Smith Proffitt Copas, age 73, of Tompkinsville passed away Friday, December 30, 2022 at the Monroe County Medical Center. She was born on March 01, 1949 in Tompkinsville, a daughter of the late Ruby Jones Smith Tooley and Tramble Smith. Betty was of the Church of Christ faith, and had been employed at T.K Chism and Kentucky Apparel throughout the years.

  She is survived by two sisters, Eva Trivette of Granite Falls, NC and Rachel Cupp (Jimmy) of Louisville; sister-in-law, Judy Smith; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by two husbands, Gary Proffitt and Virgil Copas; one brother, Robert Smith; one infant sister, Annie Lucille, and step –father, John Tooley.

  Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, January 02, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. from the chapel of McMurtrey Funeral Home with Bro. Darrick Proffitt officiating. Burial will follow at the Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 02 from 10:00 A.M. until service time at 1:00 P.M.

  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and can be made at the funeral home.

Madalynn Grace Glidewell

    

   Madalynn Grace Glidewell infant daughter of Jacob Ryan and Hannah Keelin Glidewell passed away December 22, 2022 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green.

    In addition to her parents she is survived by one sister Ember Loraine Glidwell; maternal grandparents Amanda Parsons and Josh Cole. Paternal grandparents Christine Ballard and Jessie Glidewell. Maternal great grandparents Jadie Parsons, Darlene Cole and Reid Cole. Paternal great grandmother Brenda Crumpton

   She is preceeded in death by maternal great grandmother Lillian Parsons; paternal Grandparents Kyle Ballard and Howard and Dorothy Glidewell.

    Funeral services will be Tuesday December 27, 2022 at  2:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Tuesday December 27, 2022 from 11:00 till 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Patricia Hill

 

  Patricia Eaton Hill, age 82, of Tompkinsville passed away on December 18, 2022 at the Signature Healthcare of Monroe County. She was born on June 13, 1940 in Atlanta , Georgia, a daughter of the late Kathleen Minor Eaton and Hugh Eaton Sr.

  She is survived by her husband, H.C “Blue” Hill of Tompkinsville.

  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Hugh Eaton Jr.

  The family has chosen cremation and no services are announced at the present time. McMurtrey Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dorothy "Dot" Morrison Young


 

Dorothy “Dot” Morrison Young, age 101 of Edmonton, Kentucky, died December 18, 2022 at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow, Kentucky.

 

Born in the Howard’s Bottom Community of Cumberland County, Kentucky on April 14, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Ed and Letha (English) Morrison. She married Carl Baker Young on June 21, 1942, who preceded her in death on February 17, 1987.

 

She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great great- grandmother, better known as “Mama” and homemaker and a Tennessee Walking Horse enthusiast. During her many years of attending Tennessee Walking Horse  shows and the Tennessee Walking Horse Celebrations in Shelbyville, Tennessee she made numerous life long friends, whom she loved dearly and considered them part of her family.

 

She is survived by one son, Jackie Young ( and his wife, Sharon), Edmonton; a daughter, Janice Williams (and her husband, Charlie), Tompkinsville, four granddaughters, Dee Dee Williams White (and her husband, David), Tompkinsville, Lesley Young Shive (and her husband, Mark), Aimee Young Sexton (and her husband, Matt), and Amber Young Collins (and husband, Chase) all of Edmonton; one great- granddaughter, Brittney White Billingsley (and her husband , John), Fountain Run; seven great-grandsons, Brian White, Tompkinsville, Kaleb Spillman, Will Brody Spillman, Brayden Shive, Mayes Sexton, Blake Collins and Jaxon Collins, all of Edmonton; one great great- granddaughter, Reagan Billingsley, Fountain Run; several nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, Georgia Burnley and Donna Stinson.

 

She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Francis Morrison, Lurene Morrison and Nelda Morrison; two brothers –in -laws and wives, Wendell Young and his wife, Eva Young and Russell Young and his wife, Sue Young and a sister-in-law and husband, Anna Young Newby and husband, Paul Newby.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 1: 00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade with burial to follow in the Burkesville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M and will continue Wednesday, December 21, from 8:00 A.M. until service time at 1:00 P.M., at the McMurtrey Funeral Home.

Frances Jones

 


      Frances Tempie Hanlon Jones, age 88, of Summer Shade, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2022 at her daughters residence. She was born November 22, 1934 in Olive Hill, KY to the late Homer Folk Hanlon and Irabell Kiser. She was a longtime caregiver helping many families and was a Christian.

      She is survived by one daughter, Diana (James) Zucharo of Summer Shade; three sons, David Jones, Chantilly, VA, Robert E. Jones Jr, Maryland and Douglas Alan (Debra) Jones of Summer Shade; five grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Jones, one brother Thomas Hanlon and daughter in law Karen Jones.

    A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at 2:00 P.M at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with a private burial to follow at a later time

    Visitation with the family will be Tuesday December 20, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. till 2:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home.

Geenett Estes Fish


 

 

   Reba Geenett Estes Fish, age 89, of Summer Shade, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Born May 2, 1933 in Summer Shade she was a daughter of the late Earnest and Vadie Gibbons Estes. She was the widow of Glyn Fish.

   Geenett worked in factories and was a member of the Oak Hill Church of Christ.

   Survivors include one grand daughter, Leslie Sparks, Summer Shade; one great grand son, John Garrett Hammer, Summer Shade; one sister, Mary Nell Hurt, Wabash, IN; and one brother Jimmie Estes, Indianapolis, IN.

   Preceding her in death besides her husband and parents, was one son, Jackie Fish; three sisters, Lela Fish, Ora Dell Howard and Marilyn Norris;  and five brothers, Henry, Willie, Walter, Leonard and Elston Estes.

   Funeral services will be Friday, December 16, 2022, 1:00 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the White Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, December 15, 2022, 3:00-7:00 P.M. and Friday, December 16, 2022 after 8:00 A.M.  until time of service at 1:00.

   In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the White Cemetery and left at the funeral home.

Robin Gail Kinsey


 Robin Gail Kinsey, age 62, of Burkesville passed away on December 05, 2022 at the Cumberland County Hospital. She was born on February 29, 1960 in Louisville to the late Shirley Girtley Noe and Tommy Noe.

  She is survived by daughter, Christy Clark of Shepherdsville; two grandchildren, Hannah Nicole Hodge and Trenton Lukas Hodge; both of Shepherdsville; one great grandchild, Levi Ryder Webb; sisters, Rhonda Kaye Reid ( Leo) of Burkesville, Sonya Gaye Harris ( Darrell) of Burkesville, and Tonya Rene’ Greene (Jack) of Shepherdsville; brother, Stuart Dewayne Noe ( Katrina) of Shepherdsville also survives.

  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Mark Steven Noe.

  Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at 11:00 A.M from the chapel of McMurtrey Funeral Home with Ronnie Pitcock officiating . Burial will follow in the Cary Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 10 from 10 A.M. until 7 P.M., and will continue on Sunday, December 11 from 8 A.M. until service time 11 A.M at the funeral home.

Marilyn Norris


 

         

 

   Marilyn June (Estes) Norris, age 83, of Summer Shade passed away December 6, 2022 at Signature Health Care of Monroe County.

   Born February 11, 1939 in Summer Shade she was a daughter of the late Earnest and Vadie Easter Gibbons Estes.

   She worked at Belden in Tompkinsville, Ky. and was a member of Oak Hill Church of Christ

   She is survived by one son, Dwight (Martha) Norris of Summer Shade; one grand daughter Amanda (Matt) Van Camp of Summer Shade and one grand son Billy Norris of Summer Shade; three great grandchildren Carson and Connor Van Camp and Gracie Norris,.

   Also surviving are two sisters, Geenett Fish of Summer Shade and Mary Nell Hurt of Wabash, IN. and one brother, Jimmy Estes of Indianapolis, IN.

   Marilyn was preceeded in death by her husband Alton Norris, daughter Deborah Turner, grandson, Kevin Turner and grand daughter, Donna Turner. Also preceding her in death is two sisters Lela Fish and Ora Dell Howard and five brothers Henry, Willie, Walter, Leonard and Elston Estes.

   Funeral services will be held Friday December 9, 2022 at 11:00 at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with Brother Lewis Blythe officiating. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery.

   Visitation will be Thursday December 8, 2022 from 4:00 pm till 7:00 pm and on Friday from 8:00 am till funeral time of 11:00.

Lee Raymond (Shorty) Jobe


Lee Raymond “Shorty” Jobe, age 92, of Summer Shade passed away on December 5, 2022 at the TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. He was born on April 06, 1930 in Barren County to the late Mary Kinchloe Jobe and James Enos Jobe. Shorty was married to the Goldia Mae Harper Jobe, who preceded him in death. 

   He is survived by one son, Royce Lee Jobe of Summer Shade; one daughter, Lisa Joyce Jobe of Summer Shade; his loving pet Chihuahua, Jack; sister-in-laws, Dolly Keith of Summer Shade, and Alberta Glidewell of Greenfield, IN; niece’ Robbie Massingale (Darrell) of New Palestine, IN; Nephew, Steve Estes (Vickie) of Kino; special caregivers, Kristina Anderson and Karen Bartley; several other nieces and nephews also survive him.

   In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Christie, Alma Warren, and Mary Monroe; two brothers, James “Jim” Jobe and Wesley Jobe.

  Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 1 P.M. at the Union # 2 Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Mills and Ricky Proffitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Union #2 Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 from 3-8 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, and will continue on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 from 9.A.M until service time of 1 P.M at the Union #2 Baptist Church.

Lois Ann Kennison


 Lois Ann Kirsch Kennison, age 89, of Summer Shade passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at Metcalfe Healthcare in Edmonton. Born on September 27, 1933 in Springfield, KY, she was daughter of the late Martha Hardesty Kirsch and Harlan Kirsch. Lois was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

  She is survived by her husband, Wendell Kennison of Summer Shade; three sons, Roger Kennison (Cherie) of Mt. Washington, KY, Greg Kennison (Linda) of Glasgow, and Michael Kennison of Louisville; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild also survives.

   Lois was preceded in death by daughter, Tresa Kinslow; brothers, John and Lewis; and sisters, Alma and Dean.

  Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 1 P.M. from the chapel of McMurtrey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 4-7 P.M. And will continue on Friday from 8A.M. until service time at 1 at the funeral home.

Anthony Paul Hutcherson


   Anthony Paul Hutcherson, age 61, of Tompkinsville passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at his residence. Born on December 11, 1960 in Tompkinsville, he was son of the late Merlene Howard Hutcherson and Finley Hutcherson.

  He is survived by wife Barbara Hutcherson of Tompkinsville; two step daughters, Shannon White (Kelly) and Erica Huckelby both of Tompkinsville; sisters, Elaine Brown, Darlene Fletcher, Rosetta Bartley (Terry) all of Tompkinsville, and Tabitha House (Thomas) of Scottsville; one brother, Kenneth Hutcherson (Diane) of Tompkinsville; Grandchildren, Shawn Ford (Hannah), Clint White, Gracie Walden, and Jordan Walden; great-grandchildren, Jesse, Kesslyn, and Scout Ford also survive.

  Cremation was chosen and there are no services to be announced at the present time. Arrangements are under the direction of the McMurtrey Funeral Home

Jessie Ray White


 

   Jessie Ray White, age 40, of Summer Shade passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at the T.J Samson Community Hospital. He was born on October 19, 1982 in Glasgow to Greg White and Debbie Coomer White, both of whom survive. He enjoyed training and working with horses and mules.

  In addition to his mother and father, he is survived by; sister, Harley Alderson (Marcus) of Randolph; Grandmother, Norma Jean Coomer of Randolph; Grandfather, Butch Coomer (Chris Morrison) of Columbia; one Aunt, Tammy Reece of Summer Shade; one Uncle Daniel Glover (Donna) of Summer Shade; a half sister, Taylor White and her son Hayden both of Edmonton; two Step- Grandfathers, Jim Tsukagoshi of Edmonton and Bobby Glover (Shirley) of Summer Shade; several cousins also survive.

  He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mildred Tsukagoshi; and grandfather, James White.

  Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 1p.m. from the chapel of McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade. Bro. Willie Dale Westmoreland will officiate the funeral services. Burial will follow in the Cedar Flat Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 20 from 1- 8 p.m. at McMurtrey Funeral Home, and will continue Monday, November 21 from 8 am. until service time at 1 p.m.

 Mark Lee Gross, age 57, of Tompkinsville passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the TJ Samson Community Hospital. He was born on February 10, 1965 to the late Alex and Lucille Gearlds Gross.

   He is survived by two daughters, Reva Forrest and Ashley Gross and companion Stevie all of Glasgow ; grandchildren, Dustin Forrest, Trenton Forrest, Brianna Rhoton, Harley Rhoton, Emma Rhoton, and Brandy Rhoton; two sisters Diane Blythe of Edmonton and Darnell Butrum of Red Boling Springs, brothers, William Pennington and wife Gearldine, Jerry Pennington, Cecil Pennington and wife Linda, Eddie Gross and wife Lisa, and Neil Gross all of Tompkinsville, and Billy Gross and wife Misty of Franklin,.

   Graveside services will be conducted Thursday November 3, 2022 at 1:00 P.M.  at Old Mt. Hermon Cemetery in Tompkinsville.

Donald R. Taylor


 

Donald Rex Taylor, age 82, of Eighty Eight passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at the TJ Samson Community Hospital. He was born on July 28, 1940 to the late Archie Delmar and Hazel Cary Taylor. At the age of fifteen Donald began running a bulldozer and went on to make it his life long career. Dirt work was his passion, he was good at it and it made him proud. He always held dear the people and friendships he made through his years of operating heavy equipment. Donald was also of the Methodist faith. His grandchildren and great- grandchildren were his pride and joy.

   He is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Becky) Evans Taylor. On November 7, they would have been married for 57 years. In addition to his wife survivors include, one daughter Belinda Houchens and husband Tony of Glasgow; one grandson, Bart Houchens and wife Kelsey of Glasgow, and granddaughter, Brilee Edwards and husband Justin of Glasgow; four great- grandchildren, Lakin, Sloan, and Tate Houchens & Lennon Edwards; two brothers, Wilson Taylor and wife Carolyn of Summer Shade, and Larry Joe Taylor of Eighty Eight; special niece Cindy Taylor Corbin; special cousin Becky Foster, as well as many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Janice Akins and Gaye Bernice Taylor; and two brothers, Doug and Jimmie Taylor.

    Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of the McMurtrey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Refuge Cemetery in Eighty Eight. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022 from 3-7 PM at the funeral home, and will continue on Sunday, November 6 from 8AM until service time at 2 PM.

Ivan Howard Wright


 

   Ivan Howard Wright, age 73, of Summer Shade passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2022. He was born on July 1, 1949 in Glasgow, a son of the late Mamie B. Howard and Lewis Edward Wright. Mr. Wright was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran having served time in the United States Army. Ivan worked all of his life as a farmer, and had a special love for his horses.

   He is survived by his wife, Connie Garrett Wright of Summer Shade; three daughters, Melinda McNew and husband Martin, and Melanie Tooley and husband Casey both of Summer Shade, and Kim Lambert and husband Owen of Fountain Run; one son, Mason Wright and wife Kela of Summer Shade; sister, Rosalie Calloway and husband Jim of Georgetown; brother, Evans Wright of Gamaliel; grandchildren, Trent Tooley and wife Riley, and Troy Tooley, Taylor Davis and husband Holden, Madelyn, Marissa, and Macy McNew, and Kason, Kendall, and Khloe Wright, and Kaci Ray; great grandchildren, Tatum Tooley, Jett Tooley, Kilee Ray, Bayler Ray, Aiden Adwell, and Landon Wilkerson.

   In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one grandson, Justin Wilkerson.

  Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. from the chapel of McMurtrey Funeral Home. Burial will follow on the Wright Family Farm. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 from 4 P.M until 8 P.M and on Wednesday, October 26 from 8 A.M until service time at 1 P.M, at the funeral home. Military rights will be held by D.A.V Chapter 20 out of Glasgow.

  Memorials may be made to D.A.V Chapter 20 in Glasgow and can be left at the funeral home.

 


Danny Branstetter


 Danny H. Branstetter, born on June 25th 1940 to the late John Cecil "Pete" Branstetter and Mary Edith (Hood) Branstetter. Danny entered into eternal rest on October 19th 2022 in Franklin Indiana where he was cared for by his "closest friend and cousin" Terresa Branham.


Danny's early years were spent in Summer Shade, Kentucky. He graduated from Edmonton High School and then served his country in the United States Army.  Danny furthered his career by graduating from University of Kentucky with a degree in law. The majority of his career was as a private business law attorney overseeing the business affairs for Ralph and Lorraine Woods in GraysonKentucky.  Danny never married and has no children but for those few that he let into his inner circle, they found in him a friend that would stick closer than a brother. While he had a very dry sense of humor it was one that would keep you chuckling if you spent any length of time around him at all. His interest in his leisure time centered around reading business journals, following the stock markets, and running a cattle farm in Summer Shade.


Danny will be lovingly remembered and missed by his nearest and dearest family : Judy Copenhaver, Margie Millburn, Paula Dayvolt, Brenda (Bill) Herbst, Anita (Randy) Murphy, Terresa Branham, step sister Donita Bartley as well as Ed Woods whom he thought of as a brother and friend; in addition, longtime friends Cora Emma Jesse and Sharon Howard

Following his wishes there will be no service. However, a memorial for Danny will be held at a later date.

Larry Wayne England


 

 

 Larry Wayne England, age 64, of Big Meadow, Kentucky passed away Saturday, October 8th, 2022 at the T.J Samson Community Hospital. He was born in Metcalfe County on October 30, 1957, a son of the late Clora (Poore) England and James Curt England. On September 15th, 1984, he married Faye Riddle. He worked seventeen years at Winnger Oil/ Phillip’s 66 in Edmonton, and then worked twelve years at Wal-Mart in Glasgow. He was of the Baptist faith and attended the Cedar Flat Church.

  Survivors include his loving wife, Faye England of Big Meadow; son, Cody England and wife Courtney of Summer Shade; daughter, Caitlin England of Big Meadow; brother, Holbert England of Columbus, IN; sister, Daisy Jessie of Edmonton; and his grandchildren, Cohen and Carleigh England.

  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by several other family member and loved ones.

  Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at 2 PM from the chapel of McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade. Burial will follow in the New Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 from 9 AM until service time at 2 PM at McMurtrey Funeral Home.

Mildred Norris Huckelby Combs

 

 

 Mildred Norris Huckelby Combs, age 84, Tompkinsville passed away October 2, 2022 at her residence. She was born on March 28, 1938 to the late Ada Adele Ballard Norris and William Stanley Norris.

 She is survived by one daughter, Diane Coffee and husband Donnie of Florida; sons, Mark Huckelby of Tompkinsville, Larry Huckelby and wife Tammy of Florida, Chris Huckelby of Florida, and Paul Fletcher of Florida; sisters, Linda Arterburn, Betty Muse and husband Donald, and Phyllis Norris; brothers, Phillip Norris and wife Lois, and Travis Norris; seventeen grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive.

  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death husband George Combs; father of her children, Clifton Huckelby; daughter, Lisa Huckelby; brothers, Alton Marvin, Jimmy, Darrell, James Elvin, Larry, Russell Norris; sisters, Joyce Radford and Ruby Norris.

  Funeral services are scheduled to be conducted on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade, with burial to follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Monroe County. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 from 10 AM until service time at 1 PM.

John Larry DeVore

 

John Larry DeVore, age 77, of Edmonton, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022 at his home. Born April 14, 1945, in Glasgow, KY he was a son of the late John I and Maple Lougene Pedigo Devore. He was the husband of Mary Helen Butts DeVore, who survives.  They were married 44 years.

   He worked as a farmer, of the Church of Christ faith and a proud Vietnam Marine Veteran.

    Survivors include one daughter, Clarissa Jane (Raymond Thomas) Bryant, Edmonton; one son John Parke (Mary Catherine) DeVore, Indianapolis, IN; two sisters, Sandra Thompson, Glasgow and Teena (Ronald) Taulbee of Winchester,Ky.; one brother, Wally (Norma) DeVore, Glasgow;  five grandchildren, Chloe Coffman-Keister, Cassandra DeVore, Hyacinth Bryant, Ashtin Bryant and Jonathan Coffman; and one brother in law, Eddie Gassaway.

  Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Joan DeVore Gassaway and one brother in law, Junior Thompson.

   Funeral services will be Monday, October 3, 2022 at1:00 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home, Summer Shade, with Gary Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Metcalfe County. Visitation will be Sunday, October 2, 2022, 2:00-8:00 P.M. and on Monday, October 3, 8:00 A.M. until time of services at 1:00.

Anthony Wayne "Tony" Smith


 

   Anthony Wayne “Tony” Smith, age 68, of Beaumont, KY passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022 at his residence. He was born on February 08, 1954 in Beaumont, KY to the late Flo Martin Smith and William “Bill” Smith. Tony spent the majority of his life dairy, tobacco, and cattle farming and being a self employed truck driver.

  He is survived by one daughter, Halee Smith of Bowling Green; one son, Johnathon Carter (Amy Miller) of Beaumont; one sister, Jean Franks of Texas; and two grandchildren, Waylon Miller and Case Carter.

   In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two brothers, Medford and Larry Smith; and two sisters, Carol Smith and Diane Wood.

  Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 29 at 1:00 PM from the McMurtrey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Beaumont Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 28 from 4 PM until 8 PM and will continue on Thursday, September 29 from 8 AM until service time at 1 PM.

Sharon Kay Carey Mutter


 


 

  Sharon Kay Carey Mutter, age 78, died Saturday September 24, 2022 at her home in Glasgow, KY. Born on March 01, 1944 in Indianapolis, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Birdie Cobb Carey and Hugh Carey.

  Sharon was a graduate of the Temple Hill High School, class of 1962. She was of the Methodist faith, and a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Glasgow. After forty plus years of service with NHC Healthcare as the director of medical records; Sharon retired in 2014. She was fondly known to many as Sally, and she enjoyed spending time with her loving family, friends, and many co-workers from NHC, but most of all she  loved her family.

  She is survived by one daughter; Stacy Mutter Wininger and husband Brandon of Glasgow; one son, Casey Mutter of Glasgow; two grandchildren, Sydney Wininger Hunter and husband Kyle, and Ellis Wininger all of Louisville, KY; one great-grandson, Hugh Robert Hunter of Louisville, three special cousins/sisters, Rebecca Foster, Emogene Stephens, and Donnie Wyatt, whom she did everything with her entire life; two nieces Alice of Florida and Debbie of Indiana; four nephews, Matthew Carey of Wisconsin, Martin Carey of Nebraska, Harrell Cross of Glasgow, and Lynn Cross of Pike County, KY; one stepsister, Marianna Irving of Glasgow, one step brother, Joe Hurt of Summer Shade, as well as many cousins, great nieces and great nephews.

  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by an infant daughter; paternal and fraternal grandparents Lillie Lola Hume Cary and Ellis Marshall Cary and Clemie Cobb ; one sister Georgia Cary Cross; two brothers, Junior Carey and Herbert Carey; step mother, Mary Dell Martin Carey, and one step brother, Max Martin.

  Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at 1 PM from the chapel of McMurtrey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 27 from 11 AM until service time at 1 PM.

James Deion Pitcock



James Deion Pitcock, age 76, of Dubre passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022 at his residence.

   Born December 11, 1945 in Burkesville, he was a son of the late Reeta “Anderson” Pitcock and James Haskel Pitcock, and was the husband of the late Barbara Kay Pitcock.

   Survivors include two sons, Rocky Lane Pitcock of Marrowbone and Joe David Pitcock of Dubre;  two grandchildren, Richard Lane Pitcock and Allie Jo Pitcock; three brothers, Stevie (Mouse) Pitcock of Marrowbone, Wendell Pitcock of Burkesville, and Ricky Lauderdale of Burkesville.

   Preceding him in death besides his parents and his wife Barbara, are his two brothers Jeffery Dale and Marty Lee Pitcock.

 Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, September 28 at 1: 00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 27 from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade and will continue on Wednesday, 27 from 8:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.

Evie Jewell "McClard" Birge


 

 

 

 Evie Jewell “McClard” Birge, age 82, of Tompkinsville, KY passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at the Monroe County Medical Center.

   Born December 29, 1939 in Etoile, she was a daughter of the late George and Vivian “Harrison” McClard, and was the wife of the late Howard Birge.

   She was retired from the Barren County School District as janitor at the Austin Tracy School and of the Baptist faith.

   Survivors include one son, Randy Birge and wife Amanda of Hestand; one sister, Nell Smith and husband Carroll of Dry Fork; two grandchildren, Aleda Birge Smith and husband Garrett of Tompkinsville, and Makayla Birge of Hestand; several nieces and nephews also survive.

   Preceding her in death besides her parents and her husband Howard, are her four brothers Leonard, Bernard, Carlos, and Dan McClard; two sisters, Margaret Hale, and Betty Shirley.

 Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, September 23 at 10: 00 A.M. at the White Cemetery in Sulphur Lick. Brother Wayne Mesker will officiate.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 22 from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade.

Danny Wayne Smith

  

 

   Danny Wayne Smith, age 69, of Tompkinsville, KY passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022 at his home.

   Born December 19, 1952 in Tompkinsville, he was a son of the late Paul and Pearl Jackson Smith. He was the husband of Doris Turner Smith, who survives.

   He worked as a siding contractor and was of the Baptist faith. He was a Army veteran.

   Survivors other than his wife, include three daughters, Melissa (Jesse) Emberton, Hestand, Maria (Steven) Morgan, Tompkinsville and Danielle (Bryan) Comer, Tompkinsville; two sisters, Connie (Hubert) Coffelt, Tompkinsville and Norma Freed; two brothers. Randall (Wanda) Smith, Glasgow and Robert (Neva) Smith, Tompkinsville;  seven grandchildren, Chelsea (Dylan) Wood, Chantz (Maddie) Spears, Amber ( Cole)  Crowe, Ashley Morgan, Lily Butler, Laylen and Lently Comer; three great grand children, Cohen Wood, Lakely  Spears and Kagan Crowe; and his mother in law, Anna Dean Turner.

   Preceding him in death besides his parents, include his step father, Prent Anderson; one brother, Willis Smith, and two sisters, Betty Allen and Vicki Smith.

   No services will be held at this time as cremation was chosen.

Ina Ann (Ping) McCoy


 

   Ina Ann McCoy, age 85, of Indianapolis formerly of Somerset, KY, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2022.

   Ina was born in Somerset on June 30, 1936 to the late Edgar and Nellie (Rogers) Ping. Ina was dedicated her life to being a homemaker. She was energetic and outgoing Ina was an open hearted person whom would give you the shirt off your back if you needed it. She cared more about others than herself, and she was beloved by her community. Her weak spot was tomatoes and she never let one pass her by.

  Ina is survived by her children Marsha ( Roger) Martin, Mark McCoy, Bill( Marci) McCoy, Steve (Annie Wilson) McCoy and Victor McCoy; her brother James (Janie) Ping ;7 grandchildren, several great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

  In addition to her parents she is preceded in death siblings, Pearly, Melvin, and Harlan.

  Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 15 at 1 P.M. from the McMurtrey Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Thursday September 15, from 10 A.M. until service time at 1 P.M. Burial will follow in the Union #2 Cemetery.

   Rachel Lorene Page Ferguson, age 67, of Tompkinsville passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022 at her home. Born May 28, 1955 in Tompkinsville she was the daughter of the late Layton and Hazel Ballard Page. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Alton Ferguson.

   She worked as a sewing machine operator and in the wood processing industry. She was of the Church of Christ faith.

   Survivors other than her husband include two daughters, Jamie Ferguson, Tompkinsville and Jennifer Ferguson, Louisville;  three sisters, Connie (Marty) Huffman, Glasgow, Debbie Patterson, and Sandra (Eddie) Smith both of Tompkinsville; two brothers, James Page, Cave City and Wendell Page, Tompkinsville; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death besides her parents, by her grandparents, Richard and Lizzie Ballard and Elvin and Docia Page; her father and mother-n-law Otis and Eva Ferguson; three brothers, Darrel, Danny, and Ronnie Page; and two sisters, Patricia Schreckenghkost and Ruth Vibbert; and two nieces, Michelle Williams and Angela Summers.

      Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 13, 2022, 11:00 A.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home with Jason and Jackson Page officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Monroe County.    Margaret Deckard McGuire, age 89, of Beaumont, KY passed away Friday, September 9, 2022. Born February 26, 1933 in Glasgow, KY she was a daughter of the late Alvie and Katie Harper Deckard. She was the wife of Mike Reid McGuire, who survives. They were married 59 years.

   She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

   Survivors include one daughter, Tammy Vibbert and husband Kenneth of Summer Shade; one son Jerry Newton and wife Becky of Summer Shade; seven grandchildren Kristy Vibbert, Kelly Vibbert and wife Samantha, Tyler Vibbert and Fiancé Montana Trobaugh, Charles Newton and wife Amanda, Tonya Shaw and husband Chris, and Derrick Newton.

  Great Grandchildren- Mason Ferguson, Bailey Vibbert, Payslee Vibbert, Kylee Vibbert, Kessler Vibbert, Jase Newton, Drake Shaw, Serenity Shaw, Weston Vibbert, and Gracelynn Vibbert.

  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Kay Newton, two great-grandchildren, Shaylee Vibbert and Charity Newton.

    Mary Ann “Hume” Seals, age 62, of Tompkinsville passed away September 05, 2022 at the TJ Samson Community Hospital.

    Born February 28, 1960 in Tompkinsville, she was a daughter of the late James Eddie and Haley Jane “Ford” Hume.

    Survivors include her loving husband of 12 years, James Seals of Red Boiling Springs, TN; two daughters, April Smith and husband Charles of Tompkinsville and Taylor Nicole Seals of Lafayette, TN.; one son, Philip Walker and wife Alison of Glasgow;  two sisters, Mossie Emberton of Tompkinsville, and Geraldine Connors of Benton, KY; one brother, Jerry Hume of Tompkinsville;  five grandchildren, Madison Walker, Mason, Ethan, and Austin Smith, and Aiden Seals.

    In addition to her parents, she was preceeded in death by one brother, Eddie Hume; and three sisters, Margie Young, Corrine Ford, Geneva Copas.

Roger Earl Parrish


 Roger Earl Parrish, 70 of Beaumont passed away August 28, 2022 at the Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.

   Born October 15, 1951 in Glasgow, he was a son of the late Curtis and Tootsie “Mosier” Parrish. Roger was a dedicated trucker for the majority of his life. He loved being on the road, and was also a beloved friend, husband, father, grandfather, and great- grandfather. His love for his grandbabies surpassed anything. In addition to truck driving and being on the road; he loved time on the lake and camping with his family.

   Survivors include his loving wife of 26 years, Shirley “Spears” Parrish; two daughters, Tina Asher and Susan Crouder both of Glasgow; one son, Rodney Parrish of Greensburg;  two sisters, Vickie Furkin and husband Tommy of Beaumont, and Neletta Furkin  of Glasgow; one brother, Tim Parrish and wife Brenda of Beaumont; grandchildren, Arieal Rees, Harley Asher, Ethan Chenoweth, Haley Asher, Hannah Parrish, and Jonathon Parrish; great-grandchildren, Briggs McDonald, Aiken Rees, Noah Parrish, Leah Parrish, and Layla Parrish.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by one son, Justin Parrish.

   Funeral services will be Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Union #2 Cemetery.

   Melvin Cecil Lemons, age 86, of Glasgow passed away August 21. 2022.

   Born July 5, 1936, he was a son of the late Herbert and Lou Vada “Smith” Lemons he worked for years as a crane operator in the boat building industry.

  Survivors include his wife Violet Lemons of Glasgow, three daughters, Anna Lemons of Cave City, Debbie Evans and husband Phil Abel of Jeffersonville, IN and Nancy Lemons of Glasgow; one son, Melvin C. Lemons Jr. of Henryville, IN;Grandchildren, ShyAnne Irwin, Misty Thomas, Ricky Lee Evans, and Christina Runyon; and numerous great-grandchildren also survive.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceeded in death by siblings, Leroy, Shelley, Mitchell, Laverne, and Harry John and two grand sons, Gary Melton and Donnie Dattilo.

   Born, April 12, 1956 in Glasgow, KY he was a son of the late Norma Jean (Birge) and Otis Cecil [Brownie] Garmon. He was a retired truck driver, driving over forty years. He was of the Methodist faith.

   Survivors include his wife, Cindy Kay (Davis) Garmon; two daughters, Keisha (Casey) Butler, Pleasant Shade, TN and Courtney (Brian) King, Lafayette, TN; two sons, Matt (Amber) Garmon, Silver Point, TN and Ben (Mary Katherine) Keltner, Carthage, TN; one sister, Katie (Fowler) Branstetter, Edmonton;  eleven grandchildren, Clare, Katie Belle, Madlyn, Levi, Tinley, Adam, Maggie Jean, Darby, Tatum, Stella Jo and Opal Ann; two nieces, Andi Cook and Emily Hartmann; one nephew, Kevin Branstetter; and two aunts, Mary Lena Hammer and Ruthie Jessie.

   Betty Marie Adams Page, age 93,  of Glasgow  passed away Monday, July 25, 2022, at Shanti Niketon Hospice Home in Glasgow. Born August 12, 1928 in Jefferson City, TN she was the daughter of the late Frank Adams and Minnie Gilbert Adams Cockrum.

   She worked at Key Industries and was a member of the Refuge Church of Christ.

    Stevie Huff, age 67, of Glasgow passed away July 14, 2022 at his residence. He was born May 21, 1955 in Willow Shade to the late Girtle “Brown” Huff and Taylor Huff.

    He is survived by one sister, Sheila Garmon of Marrowbone and several nieces and nephews.

    In addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by brothers, Bobby Huff, Marvin Huff, and Donald Huff; and sisters, Linda Huff, Rachel Ballard, and Betty Neilander.

      Graveside services will be Saturday, July 16, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at the Old Mt. Herman Cemetery.
