Danny McMurtrey

 




Danny Lee McMurtrey, 80 of Glasgow, KY passed away Monday, December 18, 2023, at the Shanti Niketan Hospice Home. He was born August 8, 1943, to the late Roy Lee and Mary Hoover McMurtrey. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his baby sister Glenda. Danny was a Vietnam War veteran, local owner/operator of McMurtrey Ready Mix and a farmer.

He is survived by his four children; Jeff (Melinda) Sanders, Casey Estes, Danya McMurtrey, and Lane (Daniel) Deckard, eight grandchildren; Mikayla, Brantley, Logan, Callie, Carlie, River, Caroline and Cadence, one sister Carolyn Winn, nephews Gary and Steven Winn, and his companion Frances Donaldson. 

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 22, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 A.M. until time of the service. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 20 of Glasgow/Barren County.

Virginia Perkins


 

Virginia Lois Perkins, 75 of Glasgow passed away December 17,2023 at TJ Samson Hospital in Glasgow, Ky. She was born in Summer Shade, KY. to the late Denzil Ray and Aubrey Alyne Pedigo Perkins.

 

She is survived by two daughters Stacy Minor and Angie (Stevie) Riddle of Glasgow, six grandchildren Nicole Scott, Jasper (Ketelynn) Mundy, Evan Riddle, Owen Riddle, Coleman Deckard and Noah Morgan, four great grandchildren, Tayden Hurt, Haisley Hodges, Jacelynn Hodges and Ella Mae Mundy. She is also survived by two sisters Kim Perkins of Edmonton and Carolyn Turner of Florida, one brother Jeff Perkins of Hiseville, two sisters in laws Lana Perkins and Kay Perkins.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister Nancy Hale and three brothers Billie Daen, Louie, and Stanley Perkins.

 

Funeral Services will be Thursday – December 21, 2023, at 1:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Visitation will be Wednesday – December 20 from 4:00 till 8:00 at the funeral home and on Thursday from 8:00 until time of service.

Maxie Riddle Kingrey





Maxie Riddle Kingrey, 98 of Summer Shade passed away December 17,2023 at Signature Nursing Home in Tompkinsville, KY. She was born June 26, 1925, in Cumberland County to the late Culbert Riddle and Ethel Groce Riddle. She is also preceded in death by her husband Lynn Kingrey and grandson Stephen Bowles.

She is survived by her two children Carol (Jack) Barrett and Jackie (Sharon) Kingrey, two grandsons Jonathon (Crystal) Kingrey and Jordon Kingrey, two sisters Mary Crumpton and Nina Birge, one brother Jean (Janet) Riddle, several great grandchildren Benjamin, Beckham “Beckton”, Beatrice, Dayne, Evan, Jacob, and Abigail. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 20,2023 at 1:00 P.M. with burial to follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 19,2023 from 3:00 till 8:00P.M. here at the funeral home and after 8:00A.M. on Wednesday until time of the service.

Zelma Anita Walker





Zelma Anita Walker, 70 of Glasgow passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at her sister’s home under hospice care surrounded by family and loved ones. She was born June 21, 1953, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Carlie Monday Sr and Oval Bryant Monday.

Zelma spent the first six years of her life in Indianapolis, IN. Her family then moved to Tompkinsville, KY where she spent most of her life until moving to Glasgow in 2016. She was a homemaker, caregiver, and a servant to many. Her life was spent helping others, feeding others and teaching others to can and process food. She had the heart of a true servant. She could cook one of the largest and best meals on the smallest of budgets. She loved her babies as she called them, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 

She loved shopping and giving gifts to others. Her favorite artists were Kenny Rogers, Randy Travis, and Elvis. Some of her favorite hobbies included quilting, canning, gardening, and teaching others how to cook. 

She is survived by her husband of 50 years Floyd Walker Jr, three sons Floyd (Christie) Walker III, Dwight Walker, and Christopher Walker all of Glasgow, four grandchildren Emily (Trevor) Gentry of Mt. Hermon, Austin (Candy) Walker of Cave City, Trevor (Tiffany) Walker of Glasgow and Ethan Walker of Glasgow, three great grandchildren Eli and Hudson Gentry and Roselind Walker, seven brothers and sisters Della Johnson of Glasgow, Bettie (Burney) Scott of  IN, Roger Monday of Tompkinsville, Cheri (Richard) Woodmansee of TX, Darlene Monday of Glasgow, Jackie Monday of Hopkinsville, KY and Robbie Monday of TN, sister-in-law Shirley Monday, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She is preceded in death by three sisters Sue Monday, Phyllis Monday, and Linda Monday, one brother Carlie Monday Jr. sister-in-law Connie Monday and three unborn great grandchildren. 

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 12 noon at McMurtrey Funeral Home with burial in the Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 13, 2023, from 3:00-8:00 P.M and after 8:00 A.M. on Thursday until time of the service.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made for funeral expenses or Shanti Niketan Hospice Home.

Racheal Denise O'Brien

 


Racheal Denise O’Brien, 50 of Tompkinsville, KY passed away December 6,2023 at TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN. She was born October 20, 1973, to the late Roger Barrett and Glenda Sellers Holton. Racheal loved her animals, going fishing and being outdoors.

She is survived by her husband James Kevin O’Brien of Tompkinsville, son Harvey Daniel Rogers, one daughter Hannah Rogers, five grandchildren, father-in-law Vernon O’Brien, mother-in-law Janice Ince and her stepfather Claude Pelcher.

Cremation was chosen by the family. McMurtrey Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
