KENNETH WAYNE BLYTHE

   Kenneth Wayne Blythe, age 52, of Edmonton, died Monday, March 30, 2015, at his residence.
   Born August, 2, 1962 in Edmonton, he was a son of the late Junior Radford and Ruby Dee Page Blythe.
   He had worked at Stephens Mfg. and was of the Baptist faith.
   He is survived by three daughters, Amanda (Brian) Wilson, Glasgow, Sarah Blythe Brown, Beaumont, and Emily Blythe, Beaumont; two sisters, Betty (Neddie) Whitlow, Beaumont, and Bonnie (Larry) Willis, Marrowbone; three brothers, Roy (Deborah) Blythe, Edmonton, Kelly Blythe, Beaumont, and James (Karen) Blythe, Beaumont; and one sister in law, Diane Blythe;  eleven grandchildren, Jaxson, Ace, Payton, Tanner, Hayden, Cameron, Logan, Mason, Easton, Ava, and Emma; and the mother of his children, Sharon Turner.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, Jeremy Wayne Blythe and one brother, Ervin Blythe.
   Funeral services will be Friday, April 3, 2015, at 2:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Ray Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Lone Star Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 3:00-8:00, and on Friday after 7:00 until time of services.

   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral fund.

Maxine Shirley


         Maxine J Brewer Shirley, age 74, of Summer Shade, KY, died March 27, 2015 at the T J Samson Hospital.
     Born October 13, 1940, in Knob Lick, Ky, she was the daughter of the late Filmore and Dorsey Crenshaw Brewer.
      Maxine, Class of 1959 graduates of Ralph Bunche High School, retired from TJ Samson Hospital where she worked as a LPN for years, then continued to work at the Monroe County Health and Rehab Center. She was a faithful member of the Summer Shade Missionary Baptist Church in Summer Shade where she served as Secretary/Treasure for over 40 years and a past president of the missionary society. She was a Breast Cancer Survivor. Maxine was a mother figure to many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
     She is survived by her husband of 49 years, George Leon Shirley, two sons, Lenardos (Lisa) Shirley of Knob Lick, KY and Larmarrous Shirley (Bonnie Stanton) of Atlanta, GA.. She is also survived by one sister Juanita Driver of Toledo. Two brothers, Fill Curtis Brewer and Ray Ward Brewer of Louisville.  Three grandchildren, Latrel Shirley, LaNisha (Johnny) Martin and LaVander Shirley. One great grandchild, Deant’e Martin.
 .     In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother Earl Dale Brewer.
       Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at 1:00pm at Summer Shade Missionary Baptist Church in Summer Shade.  Viewing will start Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 2:00 till 8 PM at the church and Wednesday at 7 AM till time for the funeral. Burial will be in the Trinity Lane Cemetery in Summer Shade.
       In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Society or the Summer Shade Missionary Baptist Church

Dorella Dyer

      Dorella Emberton Dyer, age 73, of Glasgow, KY, died March 26, 2015 at the TJ Sampson Hospital in Glasgow, KY.
     Born July 30, 1941, in Tompkinsville, she was the daughter of the late Ollie J. and Myrtle Harlan Emberton.
      She is survived by one son, Gary Dyer and Michelle. One grandson Chase Dyer and Breanna.  Two sister in laws,   Elva Emberton of Tompkinsville and Caroll Dyer of Indianapolis, Indiana. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
       In addition to her parents,  she was preceded in death by her husband W.D. Dyer, one son, Terry Michael Dyer and two brothers Marshall and Morris Emberton.
        Funeral services will be Monday, March 30, 2015 at 1:00 at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation will begin Sunday, March 29, at 4:00 PM  and after 7:00 AM on Monday, until time for services.

     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society. 

Jerry Hammer

 Jerry Hammer, age 78, of Tompkinsville, died March 26,2015, at the Monroe County Medical Center, Tompkinsville, Ky.
  Born August 10, 1936, in Tompkinsville, he was the son of the late Richard Tennessee and Vessie Ford Hammer and was a veteran of the Army.
   Survivors include, one daughter, Jeanene (Mark) LaMaster of Palos Hills,  Illinois. One stepson, Steve (Stephanie) Wright of Greenfield, Indiana. Three brothers, Travler Hammer of Tompkinsville.
High (Marie) Hammer of Greenfield, Indiana and Charles Hammer.
   He was preceded in death by a step daughter Teresa Wright, Two brothers, Calvin and Cass Hammer and two sisters, Tonnie Giddings and Vida Roth, and his former wife, Betty Hammer.
   Funeral services will be Sunday, March 29, 2015 at 2:00 at McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade with burial to follow at the Hammer Cemetery. Viewing will start Saturday, March 28, at 3:00 PM and after 8:00 AM on Sunday  until time for the funeral.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hammer Cemetery or can be left at McMurtrey Funeral Home.

KATHERINE JOAN THACKER LONG

Katherine Joan Thacker Long, age 64, of Edmonton, died March 18, 2015, at her daughters residence in Edmonton, Ky.
   Born February 3, 1951, in Glasgow, she was the daughter of the late Gladys White Baker and Floyd Thacker. She was the widow of the late James Long.
 Survivors  include one daughter Martha Long, Edmonton; one son, Dillion Branham, Edmonton; three sisters, Barbara Shaw, Summer Shade, Wanda Baker, Summer Shade, and Martha Jo Ruffner, Crawfordsville, IN; four brothers Jimmy White, Summer Shade, Floyd Thacker Jr., Burkesville, Elvis Thacker, Burkesville, and Roger Thacker Crawfordsville, IN; four grandchildren, James Thompson, Tara Corbin, Natalie Branham, and Annabelle Branham; and three great grandchildren, Ethan Thompson, Jayden Thompson, and Aleeah Thompson.
   She was preceded in death by two sons, Harold Long and Wendell Branham, and one brother Keith Thacker.
   Funeral services will be Saturday, March 21, 2015, at 2:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Summer Shade Cemetery. Visitation will begin, Friday, March 20, 2015, at 2:00 PM and after 7:00 PM on Saturday, until time of services.’

Melba Renee (Sissy) Bowe

Melba Renee (Sissy) Bow, age 41 of Dickson, Tn. formerly of Tompkinsville died March 13 at the Medical Center in Scottsville.
Born January 24, 1974 she was the daughter of the late Willard Swanger and Carolyn Swanger Hall who survives. She was employed by the Monroe County Board of Education.
In addition to her mother she is survived by two sons, Charles D. Hall of Dickson, Tn and Waymond Bowe of Tompkinsville one step brother Ricky Swanger of Dickson.
In addition to her father she was preceeded in death by her husband Kenneth Bowe, brother Jimmy Swanger and grandparents Charlie and Melba Dady.

A memorial service will be held Saturday – March 21, 2015 at the Red Hill Church in Tompkinsville. Visitation will begin Saturday at 1:00.

HARRY LLOYD (BUCK) CONFER


   Harry Lloyd (Buck) Confer, age 81, of Glasgow, formally of Marietta, GA, departed this earth on March 6, 2015, at NHC Healthcare.            
   He was born January 22, 1934 in Clarion, PA. He was a son of the late James and Elva (Blair) Confer, and the loving husband of Sue (Thrasher) Confer, who survives.
   He was a commercial painter and a member and Trustee of Cornerstone Church of Edmonton, Ky, and a veteran of the Air Force.
   Besides his loving wife, he is survived by five daughters, Brittany (Timothy) Ennis, Edmonton, Lea (Tim) Glass, Corbin, Ky, Michelle (Jeff) Compton, Edmonton, Carol (Louis) Confer, and Rose Confer, Marietta, GA; four sons, Bill (Cherry) Confer, Douglasville, GA, Troy (Janiece) Confer, Woodstock, GA, Mark (Tara) Polson, Monroe, GA and Andy (Kathy) Holcomb, Glasgow: two brothers, Dean (Betty) Confer and George (Dorla) Confer, Clarion, PA; two sisters, Faye (Jim) Begley, and Helen Custer, Clarion, PA; twelve grandsons, thirteen granddaughters, fifteen great granddaughters and two great grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
   Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Confer and two sisters, Alice Kiser and Inez Reedy.
   Funeral services will be Monday, March 9, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Bro Mark Parks officiating. Burial will follow in the Skaggs Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 8, 2015, from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and continue after 7:00 AM, Monday until time of services.

   Memorials may be made to the Summer Shade Fire Department or the DAV of Glasgow.
