he was a son of the late Eular
and Emily Watson Spears.
He was a truck
driver and of the Baptist faith. He served 12 years in the U S Army serving
three tours of duty in
Viet
Nam
.
Survivors include
one son, Thomas Wayne Spears, Summer Shade; one sister Marie Thrasher, Summer
Shade; four grandchildren Thomas Spears, Shawn Spears, Jessica (David) Edwards
and Emily Spears; four great grandchildren Lillee Spears, Addlyn Spears, Riley
Edwards and Emma Spears; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents
he was preceded in death by one brother, Cleston Spears.
Funeral services
will be Sunday, April 14, 2019, 1:00 PM at McMurtrey Funeral Home, with Brother
Mark Parks officiating. Burial will follow in the
Long
Cemetery
in
Cumberland
County
.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 13, 2019, 3:00-7:00 PM and on Sunday, April
13, 2019, after 8:00 AM until time of services at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers
memorials may be made to DAV Chapter 20.
