Mary Susan Riddle Crumpton

 


Mary Susan Riddle Crumpton, 91, of Summer Shade, Kentucky, died on Friday, November 7, 2025. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, she enjoyed her family get-togethers, quilting and working in her flowers. She was the eighth of 11 children born to the late C.C. and Mary Ethel Groce Riddle.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Crumpton who she wed on April 1, 1950; seven sisters, Sarah Coop, Bell Melton, Maxie Kingrey, Lucy Rouse, Noxie Coffey, Hettie Rush, and Cleo Miller; one brother, Sherman Riddle; one half-brother, Leo Riddle; a step-son, Larry Crumpton; two sons-in-law, Jackie Trowbridge and Carson White.

Survivors include eight children, Patricia (Harold) Stilts and Pam White of Summer Shade, Darlene (Steve) Baker Sharon (Rick) Woodring of Fairdale, Cary Crumpton Rebecca (Ed) Hogan of Louisville, Darrell (Alice) Crumpton of Cave City, and Doug (Tammy) Crumpton of Mt. Washington; 12 grandchildren, Chris (Stephanie) Stilts, Susan Garmon, Seb and Cindy Baker, Kyle (Niki) Trowbridge, Chasity (Anthony) Janes, Brian Woodring, Bryce (Collisha) Woodring, Heather (Matt) Brian, Will and Brandi Rakestraw, and Lex Crumpton; 14 great-grandchildren, Evan Stilts, Chris, Carson and Cameron Baker, Lexi Milam, Ethan Trowbridge, Caleb and Peyton Janes, Brystal Woodring, Calvin and Maggie Jo Brian, McKayla, Cody and Jocelynn Rakestraw; three step-great-grandchildren, Anthony Kennedy, Brandon Branstetter and Travis Branstetter; one sister, Nina Birge of Gamaliel; and one brother, Gene (Janice) Riddle of Greensburg.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 12, at 1:00 p.m. at McMurtrey Funeral Home in Summer Shade with burial in the Summer Shade Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3-8 p.m. and after 8 a.m. on Wednesday until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Summer Shade Cemetery.

Billy Evans Hurt

 


Billy Evans Hurt, 97, of Summer Shade, KY, the son of the late W.P. and Lou Emma Shives Hurt, departed this life into the next on Monday, November 3, 2025. He was born May 31, 1928, on the farm where he grew up, he also lived there for the last five years with his wife of almost 74 years, Sue Sikes Hurt, who survives. They joined their hearts on December 22, 1951, and together created a family. This family consists of 6 children, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

His children who survives are, Terry Hurt, of Edmonton, Josie Hurt, of Glasgow, Larry Hurt, of Summer Shade, Cathy (Tim) Flowers, of Glasgow, and Bobby Hurt (Tracey), of Edmonton; grandchildren are, W.P. Hurt, of Richmond, Michelle (Jim) Estes, of Glasgow, Jennifer Johnson (L.J.) of Florida, Susan (Abel) Talbot, of Tennessee, Matthew Wambles Hurt (Olivia), of Persimmon, Matthew (Elizabeth) Flowers, of Bowling Green, Casey Stephens (Bryan) of Glasgow, Lane (Kristie) Hurt, of Marrowbone. There are also 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews who survive.

Besides his parents, Billy was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Jill; a granddaughter, Emily Robyn Hurt; 3 sisters, Wilma Parke, Cora Jennings, and Maxine Garmon; brother, Edward Hurt; several nephews; and a special aunt, Delpha Hurt.

Funeral service will be at 1:00PM Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Beaumont Community Church with burial in the Beaumont Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday morning at the church at 10:00AM and continue until time for the service.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Beaumont Cemetery.


Christopher Lee Gordon

 


Christopher Lee Gordon, 54, of Summer Shade, KY, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Glasgow, KY, to the late Terry Gordon and Tena Bunch Barnidge, who survives.

Christopher was in the Unites States Navy. He was very outgoing and loved being outdoors and doing activities with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Kimberley Gordon; children, Haven Hunley (Tre’Issac) and Traci Goodman (Ira); stepchild, Logan Houchens (Autumn); grandchildren, Ryan Houchens, Corbin Houchens, Memphis Goodman, Maverick Goodman, Milo Goodman, Lennox’ Monroe Hunley, and Tatum Hunley; brothers, Gary Barnidge and Shane Barnidge; mother and father-in-law, Thelma and Bobby Groce; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Larry Todd.

The family has chosen cremation, and no services are scheduled at this time. McMurtrey Funeral Home is assisting the family.
