Derral Glass



Derral Alton Glass, 88 of the Randolph community passed away Sunday June 11, 2023 at his home. He was born June 16, 1934 to the late Oscar Glass and Pearl Denham Glass.

 

Mr. Glass was a member of Hickory College Church of Christ and was a deacon until his wife passed away. He was a veteran stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky and served in Butzbach, Germany from July 12, 1955 till June 1,1957. He loved woodworking and made many crafts, porch swings, chairs, tables and one of his favorite pieces was his walking canes.

 

Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Glass, two brothers Wilbur Glass and Terry Glass, two sisters Mable White and Edia Vaughn, one granddaughter Patricia Renea, daughter in law Sharon Glass and son in law Arlin Wheat.

 

Survivors include his four children, Don (Kathy) Glass of Edmonton, Pat (Russell) Coomer of Columbia, Beverly (Donald) Bruton of Smiths Grove and Randell (Dianna) Glass of Edmonton, one sister Wanda Martin of Frankfort, IN. five grandchildren Angela (Kyle) Schwartz, John P. Scott, Allen (Jessica) Glass, Sara (Zack) Glass and Daniel (Laura) Glass, step grandchildren Christy (Paul) Sanders, Amy Walden and Dakota Bunch, four great grandchildren Barrett, Harrison, Liam and Evelyn, step great grandchildren Devin, Tucker, Ty and Isla. Two Special nieces Runell Clemmons and Nickie Dubree.

 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday June 14, 2023 at 2:00 P.M.  at McMurtrey Funeral Home , with burial to follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday June 13, 2023 from 4:30-8:00 P.M. at the McMurtrey Funeral Home and on Wednesday 8:00 A.M. until time of service.

O Lord, we call upon You in our time of sorrow, that you gave us the strength and will bear our heavy burden, unitl we can again feel the warmth and love of You devine compassion. Be mindful of us and have mercy on us while we struggle to comprehend life's hardship. Sorry for your loss and God Bless your family. Bro. Larry Lemmon and the Red Lick Church family.

Prayers for the family. Very sweet man as his wife was just as sweet. I firmly believe they are in heaven. God bless you all.
